Who we're looking for

We are looking for software engineers to join our product team at Zendesk focused on implementing a Bring Your Own Key/Hold Your Own Key (BYOK/HYOK) capability for Zendesk customers. This team owns the engineering solutions to meet new and evolving data privacy laws.

• Work on a new opportunity to create and implement an encryption solution at Zendesk while integrating new and existing products.

• Actively participate in every aspect of software engineering: designing, building, and testing software applications.

• Ensure scalability, performance, maintainability and security of the technical platform.

• Proactively implement changes to improve system reliability, stability, performance, and foster standard methodologies, high-quality code, and appropriate test coverage among other technical contributors.

• You’re tenacious, driven, and have a passion for learning, love to collaborate and have meaningful interactions with everyone you meet.

• We're looking for engineers who are not afraid of touching every layer of our technical stack.

• Have a proven record in Software Engineering with strong capabilities in any of the major programming languages (Java, Ruby, Go, Scala, etc).

• Are experienced in building scalable, distributed systems.

• Proven understanding of data structures and algorithms.

• Personal projects, collaboration with an open-source community or active learning initiatives would be a good sign of your passion for learning and tackling problems.

We’d love to hear from you if you have prior experience in this field. It's not needed but any prior experience would be an advantage.

• Prior experience in security or data privacy and protection space.

• Familiarity with cryptography.

• Infrastructure such as Elasticsearch and information retrieval systems.

• Prior Ruby on Rails experience.

• Experience with Reactive programming.
