Position Overview: AFRL/RQH Senior Aerospace Systems Engineer

**Must have an Active Secret Clearance**

We are seeking an Aerospace Systems Engineer to support the HQ Air Force Research Laboratory

Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit and apply knowledge and experience in engineering principles, criteria, and procedures to DoD, AF, and common engineering/scientific principles, processes, and procedures to improve performance and sustainability of existing and future AF and joint service weapon systems USAF systems (e.g., Vanguard programs), subsystems, and equipment procurement activities, post award project/program management tasks, and acquisition programs throughout their life cycles.
  • Engineering expertise may be required in various areas of the engineering field to include, but not limited to, digital engineering, digital thread/twin, airworthiness, systems engineering, systems modeling, modeling and simulation, program management, autonomy, artificial intelligence, program protection, and organizational subject matter expertise as required for increased cross-service collaboration.
  • Exhibit knowledge in assisting to support, monitor, and assess prime contractor and major subcontractor system design, development, integration, and verification activities.
  • Exhibit knowledge in continuing monitoring and assessing research efforts, keeping abreast of schedules, progress for meeting technical research objectives, and resolution of technical challenges.
  • Exhibit knowledge in assisting to investigate and recommend appropriate action concerning the need to redirect technical approach, pursue additional lines of development, and determine compromises on previously established requirements if required.
  • Exhibit knowledge in support the development of additional technical tasks to be completed for inclusion in the overall program schedule.
  • Exhibit knowledge in supporting development of system requirements as required.
  • Exhibit knowledge in providing technical advice and guidance to engineers, lead and chief engineers, PMs, and other program team members.
  • Exhibit knowledge in supporting feasibility studies and technical evaluations to ensure that systems, subsystems, and equipment being developed are mutually compatible and serve to meet overall operational and technical requirements.
  • Exhibit knowledge in assisting in the writing, assembling, and integrating the technical requirements of RFPs including, but not limited to, System Requirements Documents (SRDs), SOWs, SOOs, Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs), and DD Forms 610.
  • Exhibit knowledge in supporting formal and informal program reviews and meetings including, but not limited to, risk assessments, requirements and design reviews (e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR, CoDR), PMR including pre-PMRs, and Technical Interchange Meeting (TIMs).
  • Exhibit knowledge in interpreting operational requirements and assist to translate them into technical requirements leading to improved system and subsystem technical performance and operational capability.
  • Exhibit knowledge in in supporting the effective integration of new and modified systems, subsystems, and components into a designed current or future weapons system.
  • Assist to assess technical risks and recommend options to be considered by High-Speed Systems Division (AFRL/RQH) programs.
  • Support RFP development and in evaluation of any contractor proposals in response to an RFP in support of High-Speed Systems Division (AFRL/RQH) programs.
  • Assist to interface with interface with all levels of engineering, program management, and leadership, including, but not limited to, other engineers, lead and chief engineers, technical experts, PMs, and civilian and military leadership within the High-Speed Systems Division (AFRL/RQH), other AFRL directorates, AFRL headquarters, AFLCMC, HQ AFMC, DoD, prime and subcontractors, and other government and private sector personnel.
  • Support various standing technical activities and organizations as required to support High-Speed Systems Division (AFRL/RQH) programs.
  • Assist to solicit and coordinate technical assistance and requirements from all engineering functional disciplines and integrate those inputs into cohesive technical requirements for High-Speed Systems Division (AFRL/RQH) programs.

Qualifications:

  • Hypersonic platform experience in R&D preferred
  • Prefer ABET accredited degree - electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, aerospace engineer, or systems engineer.
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of DoD acquisition and/or research experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
