We are seeking a Senior Facilities Technical Designer, (Level 5) to join our Facilities and Asset Management (FAM) Core Engineering team located in North Charleston, SC; Ridley Park, PA; Hazelwood, MO; Berkeley, MO; Huntsville, AL; Mesa, AZ; El Segundo, CA; Long Beach, CA; Huntington Beach, CA; and Seal Beach, CA.
This position will focus on developing and implementing CAD/Building Information Modeling (BIM) standards, BIM program management, and integrating engineering & CAD/BIM teams across the Boeing enterprise. This is an exciting role offering extensive leadership opportunities. You will lead enterprise initiatives to improve efficiency through standardization & bring commonality to the Boeing F&AM organization.
Candidates should be deeply familiar with Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools and implementation of BIM across enterprise to update from legacy systems.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develop roadmap for transitioning from CAD to BIM on an accelerated timeline including conversion of existing record documents while incorporating engineering recommendations to ensure that Boeing FAM remains current on the newest technology.
- Lead the effort to solicit engineering input and update/create BIM and drafting standards across the enterprise to develop standards for families, templates and models to streamline creation of construction documents, communication with A&Es, contractors, and vendors.
- Develop long-term strategy for implementation of BIM rollout to incorporate digital twin and active communication with BAS systems.
- Define and create Facilities documentation management and storage strategies.
- Provide mentorship, and guidance to technical designers, drafters, and engineers during BIM transition to ensure that vested parties are capable and knowledgeable within the vital software programs and training needs.
- Significant participation with the engineering technical committees, providing updates and direction on engineering initiatives, collecting input from and sharing information to engineering teams across the enterprise.
- Participate in national associations such as NIBS, NIST, AGC, and AIA, providing feedback on industry trends and requirements for the enterprise engineering community. Act as Boeing’s voice during update cycles and facilitate updates to Boeing Standards and Command Media.
- Create, initiate procedures for, and communicate use of Engineering Libraries and Common Drawing Repositories to be used for reference by Boeing site engineers.
- Provide consultation to site engineers and business partners across the enterprise, providing mentorship on Facilities Engineering Communities of Practice and Design Practices
- Perform engineering benchmarking to help the organization better understand resource requirements across the enterprise.
- Provide input to strategic infrastructure planning for the enterprise including studies, analyzing current conditions and future requirements, and recommending investments in digital tools.
- Provide strategic onsite assistance across the enterprise assisting with emergent engineering and urgent needs.
- Provide mentorship, act as an enterprise-wide consultant and provide quality control across the enterprise.
This position is hybrid. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
The current expectation for the team is working onsite 1 day per week, following training, as business needs allow. The position requires up to 25% of domestic travel to other Boeing sites.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
- 5+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- 5+ years of experience do you have developing 3D CAD models and/or drawings
- Experience leading or managing projects and/or teams
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Associates degree or greater in an engineering related field
- 10+ years of experience working with BIM and CAD Systems
- 10+ years of experience with AEC, AIA and ISO codes and standards
- Experience training others
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor+7 years' related work experience, 11 years' related work experience, etc.)

Summary pay range: $96,050 – $139,150
