The Position
Kaufman, Hall & Associates, LLC, is seeking a Senior Vice President who will be a significant contributor to the growth of Kaufman Hall’s Performance Improvement practice. The position demands a strong project management background, the ability to lead change, guide a project from conception to completion and ensures that projects are completed on time and within budget. The person in this role will drive engagements from assessment to implementation. The ideal candidate with have in-depth knowledge in multiple PI Workstreams (Care Transitions, Non-Labor, Physician Enterprise, Revenue Cycle, Workforce) to assist with this workstream while leading the project. The successful candidate will be expected to lead client engagements with minimal oversight, prioritize the team’s work, facilitate interdependencies between workstreams and manage client expectations. The Senior Vice President will be fully capable of presenting to senior management teams and boards and be able to drive the organization to decisions around critical issues while simultaneously managing multiple client engagements with a variety of staff. The Senior Vice President is expected to develop new business opportunities and create cross selling opportunities for Kaufman Hall’s other practices.
The essential functions of the position are:
- Leading transformational organizational change for clients
- Working cross functionally leading to significant growth for Kaufman Hall
- Penetrate further current accounts by teaming up with other Kaufman Hall senior executives.
- Proactive pursuit of new accounts in the Healthcare Provider market segment. Promotes collaboration with workstreams. Desire to collaborate with other practices in Kaufman Hall in order to cross-sell relevant products and services, in addition to being a growth oriented, vertical thinker.
- Develop weekly status updates and steering committee document
- Contributes and follows standardized methodology for all client engagements
- Works with client and KH teams to assess and implement process improvements and savings opportunities
- Monitors and interprets relevant revenue & expense metrics
- Simultaneously manages several projects without compromising quality and effectiveness
- Professionally presents to those within and outside healthcare organization
- Routinely provides project management
- Completes analyses, documentation, and presentations for C Suite executives
- Builds relationships and engages in activity designed to generate qualified leads
- Develop project budgets and engagement staffing requirements
- Mentors and coaches’ junior and new staff
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
- Flexibility and responsiveness in managing multiple projects in sometimes high-pressure situations simultaneously
- Self-motivator with ability to work independently
- Plan, direct, and coordinate work activities of others
Qualifications
- Demonstrating a detailed understanding of the health care industry (including historic and contemporary issues pertaining to providers, payment and policy, demonstrated financial and analytical competencies) with the ability to communicate complicated concepts to a variety of clients
- Success in leading organizational transformation at an enterprise level
- Minimum 15+ years progressively more responsible direct supervisory experience
- Previous consulting experience required (external or internal)
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Demonstrated ability to work in challenging situations
- Demonstrated ability to leading successful teams and manage conflict. Ability to complete projects on tight timelines in accordance with established budgets with attention to detail and follow through
- Consistent high-quality engagement delivery
- Excellent communication (both written and oral)
- Effective communication skills and demonstrates leadership with physicians, clinicians, administrators, and colleagues
- Frequently communicates with clients and coworkers and must be able to share information effectively
- Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills
- Strong organizational, time management, and verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Education
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree highly preferred
Physical Requirements
Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.
Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
Work Environment
- Travel Required: 75% or more.
- When not travelling, the role is remotely based.
- Work is regularly performed in a combination of office, home office, and client settings, and routinely uses standard office equipment.
- It may require the maintenance of a home office and proximity to an airport for work related travel.
