Budge Industries, LLC is looking to hire several part time Sewing Machine Operators for our new, climate-controlled manufacturing plant in Henderson, KY. The primary function of a sewing machine operator is to create aesthetic, waterproof seams by joining together pieces of material that make up a complete car cover. Previous sewing experience is preferred not required as on-the-job training will be provided. The starting pay scale is between $15 and $17 an hour (prior experience with industrial sewing will be considered when determining starting wage). The part time shift operates Monday through Friday, 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

Essential Duties:

• Sets-up a sewing machine at start of shift and gathers needed materials according to product specifications and/or as directed by supervisor
• Operates various equipment to include sewing machines, sonic fabric welders, sergers, etc.
• Conducts quality control checks on raw materials and sewn goods
• Notes on production sheet reports any material defects or sewing errors
• Repairs sewing errors when warranted
• Performs minor routine preventative maintenance on sewing machine to include oiling and cleaning
• Completes daily reports to include production report, preventative maintenance report, etc.
• Reports to supervisor any problematic issues with sewing machines, sewing supplies, materials, etc.
• Disposes of trash into appropriate trash bins
• Maintains good housekeeping in and around work areas
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager

Physical Requirements

• Able to stoop, crouch, kneel and bend down periodically
• Able to climb and/or descend steps, ladder and/or ramp inclines
• Able to reach, grab, hold, handle, pull, push, carry with both arms and hands
• Able to maneuver one’s body in and around aisles, bins, forklifts, co-workers, etc.
• Able to walk, sit and/or stand for up to 4 hours
• Able to lift up to 20 pounds on rare occasions
• Able to see small and large type, near and far with or without corrective lenses
• Able to hear, comprehend and speak at volumes appropriate for a factory, production-type environment

Work Environment

Budge’s manufacturing area is contained within a climate-controlled factory setting. Temperature and noise level are generally at a comfortable level.

• Able to speak, write, read and understand material tags, location prompts, employer directions, etc. in alpha-numeric English
• Able to use basic mathematic principles to include addition, subtraction and units of measure
• Work cooperatively with management, supervisors and co-workers
