SFP 10-14 Childcare Worker - Community Programs * F/T
Job description
LOCATION: Various Community Locations
REPORTS TO: Associate Director; Prevention Services
Compensation: $15/hr
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Comply with all Agency and Program policies, procedures and protocols in a professional
and ethical manner.
a. Demonstrates knowledge and application of policies, procedures, and protocols.
b. Includes all polices in the Employee Handbook.
c. Includes established regulations, polices, and procedures by the Children’s Home
of York and York County Office of Children, Youth and Families
d. Adheres to the seven commitments of the Sanctuary Model.
2. Work to insure the health, safety, and well being of both clients and fellow team members
at all times.
3. Provides safe supervision of assigned children as per program expectations.
a. Provide childcare in an appropriately designated classroom.
b. Ratio: Infants and toddler- 1 childcare worker per child
c. Ratio: Children age 2-3- 1 childcare worker for every 2 children
d. Ratio: Children age 4 and older- 1 childcare worker for every 4 children.
4. Engages in prepared activities with assigned children as per program expectations.
a. Under the direction of the Associate Director of Prevention Services provides the
following:
i. Arts and crafts activities
ii. Games
iii. Story book reading
iv. Large and small motor skill activities appropriate to age and ability
5. Prepare and complete required reports and documentation as well as perform other required
administrative tasks assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
1. Ability to intermittently stand and sit.
2. Pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying as required.
3. Must be able to describe and articulate events.
4. Must be able to read and comprehend reports.
5. Has the mental and emotional capacity to work in a highly stressful environment.
6. Has dependable and reliable transportation to and from program location.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. High School Diploma with relevant work experience.
2. Work history relevant to providing child-care.
3. Good written and verbal communication skills.
4. 18 years of age or older.
5. All required clearances.
6. Be sensitive to and comfortable with working in an agency that provides services to a
culturally diverse population
