SUMMARY OF POSITION

Verifies the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments and orders. Compares identifying information with bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records. Verifies that materials received are as ordered. May route incoming items within the company as directed. Maintains related records. May utilize hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors, overhand crane, or other handling equipment to move material to and from and within the facility.

This position is located at Zurn Wilkins in Paso Robles, CA.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Checks in material received and moves material to appropriate location.
  • Use various types of material handling equipment such as lifts, hand trucks and hoists.
  • Maintains proper inventory count and performs cycle counts as needed.
  • Pulls material for manufacturing and assembly orders.
  • Works with supervisors, schedulers, and other personnel as needed.
  • Completes Daily Forklift Inspection checklist at start of every shift.
  • Maintains material placement at all workstations in production cells while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Records all material movements in the computer system to maintain inventory accuracy (transfers).
  • Verifies proper labeling (item & weight) of all Return to Warehouse materials and makes sure they are properly secured.
  • Transports Finished Goods to Shipping and backhaul raw materials & work in process (WIP) to areas as required.
  • Maintains housekeeping & 5S in warehouse, main aisles, and material queue areas at machines.
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Other duties as required and assigned in other areas.

Preferred Skills

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Forklift experience

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to perform basic arithmetic functions (part counts, estimated weights).
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple work streams in a fast-paced environment.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 0-3 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 26-75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. (Safety protection will be provided)
  • The employee will be exposed to a high forklift traffic environment.
