Job description
Location : Fort Myers, FL
Compensation: Contract position. Up to $35/hr (based on experience), per diem, travel & accommodations
Education : B.S. Degree in Occupational Safety Management, Construction, Engineering or related degree and/or experience preferred. Substantial experience may be substituted for education.
Experience :
- A minimum of 3 years conducting site inspections under the FEMA Public Assistance program is highly preferred.
- Experience as a superintendent, foreman, quality control manager, construction inspector, construction manager, construction cost estimator, architect, or engineer, is highly preferred.
Essential Functions:
- Conducts inspections at damage sites
- Documents grant applicants' damage claims
- Compiles documentation and enters data into grant management software
- Creates a detailed Damage Description and Dimensions form
- Creates maps, photo markups, and sketches to supplement written reports that the grant management software stores and generates
- Provides good customer service to applicants through prompt follow-up and a professional demeanor
- Complete all documentation accurately and timely
- Work as part of a team to accomplish objectives with tight deadlines
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, computers, mobile devices, and working in a database is a must
- Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
- Candidates will work in areas affected by natural disasters. As such, candidates must anticipate prolonged exposure to austere environments.
- Must have the ability to work on uneven surfaces, heights, and in confined spaces.
- Frequent standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift.
- Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands.
- Must be able to work at heights up to 150 feet.
- Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl occasionally.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, to include but limited to, wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather.
- Position requires acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing.
- Must be able to reach, lift and perform work above shoulder height.
CERTIFICATIONS
- OSHA-10 - Highly Desired
GENERAL NOTES
- Background check and drug screen panel are required for this position
- Random drug screens are periodic and administered without advanced notice
