Position Title: After School Program Site Manager

Type: Full Time, Salaried

Location: Howard Elementary School

Schedule: School Year: Monday - Friday, 10am - 6pm, Summer/Non-School Days: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm

Althought this is a school position, it is year-round, with full-time hours in the summer.

As the Site Manager, you will be responsible for overall daily operations of a designated after-school site with the primary concern for programs and service delivery, supervision and training of staff, facilities management, community relations and membership administration.

Key Responsibilities


Leadership

  • Provides leadership, direction and direct supervision of After School Program staff. Leads and evaluates employees to meet the organization’s expectations for productivity, quality and goal accomplishment.
  • Conducts and attends meetings and trainings to keep site up to date.
  • Manages employee schedules, time off requests, overtime approvals, hourly staff timekeeping requirements and department budgets.
  • Works closely with Human Resources to plan staffing levels, recruit, interview, hire and development staff.
  • Coaches, mentors and develops staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding, monthly one on one coaching meetings and bi-weekly team meetings.
  • Provides effective performance feedback (timely, specific and constructive) that includes recognition and rewards and disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Fosters a spirit of teamwork where ideas are welcomed, conflicts are resolved expeditiously and diversity is valued. Consciously model the organization’s mission and values.
  • Develops and coordinates programs that are evidence-based and align with the Boys & Girls Club and school goals and objectives to strengthen academic success in members and meet minimum program delivery standards.

Role-specific

  • Oversee the planning, coordination, implementation, supervision and evaluation for grant-specific programming in the following content areas:
    • Language/Literacy
    • Math/Numeracy
    • STEM
    • Social-Emotional Learning
    • Arts and Culture
    • Global Learning
    • Health and Wellness
    • Media and Technology
  • Recruits and retains a specific number of part-time staff and volunteers necessary for quality Boys & Girls Club program implementation. Pursues relationships with partnering agencies, higher education institutions, community members, and local businesses to provide additional resources and support to program components.
  • Provides guidance and development for part-time staff. Prepares newly hired staff to work with program participants, help frontline staff members understand their roles, and contributes to a positive work culture.
  • Promotes Club membership and recruits after school program participants on a bi-weekly basis through lunch and classroom visits and through establishment of a student referral process involving school day personnel.
  • Forges strong ties with the School Principal, Dean, Teachers and Staff by attending faculty meetings, school events trainings, and having professional interactions at all times.
  • In partnership with Howard Elementary, facilitate Family Events throughout the school year
  • Responsible for vital documentation and paperwork being completed i.e. program plans, newsletters, attendance, incident reports, new employee paperwork and other administrative duties as needed.
  • Responsible for managing program budget.
  • Meet grant requirements for program measures as determined by the Howard Suamico School District and the Boys & Girls Club.
  • Understands and assures the implementation of organizational policies, procedures, and goals while maintaining a safe, positive environment necessary for youth development.
  • Utilize the Youth Development Strategy in alignment with PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System) to maintain a positive behavioral environment. Reports severe infractions to the Director of After School Programs, the appropriate school personnel and parents/guardians when applicable, understands and applies child and adolescent development principles.
  • Communicates with a strength based approach to develop positive relationships with all youth and families.
  • Respects and honors cultural and human diversity.
  • Identifies potential risk and protective factors for youth.
  • Demonstrates the qualities of a positive role model.
  • Understands and applies youth development principles.
  • Coordinates (with the school administration) the use of building facilities for agencies contracted by the Howard Suamico School District to provide additional after-school activities.
  • Safe and lawful operation of Club vehicles in accordance with the Driver Safety Policy.

Skills and Knowledge


  • High school Diploma or GED equivalency required.
  • Ability to work with youth and families.
  • Ability to work evenings.
  • Ability to work effectively with Club staff, organizations, community groups and individuals.
  • Accurately understanding the spoken communication of others and composing clear, concise and accurate written material.
  • Demonstrate record of independent work, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Enjoy working with a variety of people (volunteers and paid staff).
  • Providing others with necessary correct and timely information.
  • Working with others to accomplish team objectives.
  • General Microsoft knowledge required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A four-year degree from an accredited college or university required or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in developing and implementing youth guidance and development programs.
  • At least one of supervisory experience.
  • Bilingual abilities.
