Frankenberger Associates, LLC, is an established private practice that provides evaluations, consultations, and services for our clients and their families. We are seeking a full or part-time Social Skills Coach to provide social skills training for children, adolescents, and young adults.
The Social Emotional Learning Program at FA is expanding, and we are seeking a motivated, collegial professional to join our team of evaluators, counselors, coaches/tutors, cognitive trainers, and occupational therapists. We specialize in the evaluation and treatment of dyslexia, ADHD, executive functioning, processing and working memory deficits, ASD, and other learning differences. We are seeking a Social Skills Coach who will add to the knowledge, expertise, passion, warmth, and collaborative nature of our team, all in the service of improving outcomes for our clients and their families.
Who we are looking for:
The ideal candidate will have expertise in working with a range of neurodevelopmental disorders as well as the ability to communicate effectively with families, schools, and other referral sources. The Social Skills Coach will be responsible for facilitating evidence-based social skills groups and one-on-one virtual training for children, teens and young adults who struggle socially due to ADHD, high functioning autism, or specific social learning challenges. The successful candidate will have strong experience in teaching and facilitating social emotional learning and will be responsible for implementing the 14-week FA social skills program. The candidate will work closely with our team to ensure that children, teens, and young adults develop the skills they need to successfully navigate their social world.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate on-site social skills groups and virtual one-on-one social skills training
- Teach skills including: Social communication skills, Evaluating, building and strengthening friendships, Understanding the subtleties of language; Utilizing self-monitoring skills while navigating media and technology; Perspective taking skills; Recognizing how their behavior is perceived in the social world; Self-regulation skills; Emotional control; Flexible thinking; Following the hidden social rules; Working in groups; Handling teasing, bullying, gossip, and rumors; Self-advocacy; and Planning get togethers with friends
- Develop and implement individualized social skills programs for each 1-1 participant. Utilize digital curriculum platform (TEAMS) by selecting, tailoring and implementing appropriate lessons to fit needs of each individual social skills client
- Collaborate with the team to develop and implement effective social communication strategies
- Work with Social Skills Director under a supervision model
- Provide regular feedback to parents and other professionals regarding participants' progress
- Attend team meetings and participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of participant progress
- Seamlessly and effectively navigate a remote teaching platform
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a related field (e.g., education, psychology, social work, counseling)
- Experience working with children, adolescents and young adults with social communication challenges due to ADHD, high functioning autism, or social learning challenges
- Strong knowledge of social emotional learning and evidence-based social skills interventions: a social cognition program that addresses social emotional learning through a cognitive behavioral approach, and/or the PEERSĀ® social skills program
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Experience with maintaining weekly client documentation on a digital platform
- Flexibility while working with students both to empathetically support clients while simultaneously being able to highlight their areas of social weaknesses
- Have experience with virtual teaching/presenting
- Confidence while presenting to clients, parents, and outside providers
