At VMware Platform Services (VPS) our mission is to build and run a trusted multi-cloud foundation for our internal and external customers. We are part of the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and at the core of VMware’s world class R&D organisation.

While based in Ireland you will be part of a global team that develops platform services such as DB as a Service, API Gateway, Secrets Management, Fraud Prevention, Billing and others.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

You will work and learn as part of a global team, hand in hand with senior developers and architects who will help you become familiar with our culture, the environment and the projects.

You will practice platform and systems thinking.

You will solve complex engineering problems, collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders, deliver cross cloud services, build a trusted foundation for our internal and external customers.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis? You will:

• Build and run cross cloud platform services
• Write code following best practices in an object-oriented language
• Work as part of a Scrum team
• Collaborate with product management and engineering teams globally
• Work on our CI/CD pipeline to deliver changes to production
• Automate as many steps of the pipeline as possible
• Practice continuous improvement

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

You will be joining a growing team of engineers located in Ireland and around the world and reporting to a local engineering manager.

Where is this role located?

Remote, Dublin office optional. This role is fully remote in Ireland, allowing you the flexibility to work from the location you feel most productive and comfortable.
