BWXT Advanced Technologies is seeking a Software Engineering Technical Lead to direct a team of development engineers and computer scientists in the growth of our core reactor engineering and simulation platform, as well as other novel engineering methods and applications. As the need for novel methods grows with product development and new designs, the role includes a high ceiling for personal growth and advancement, interfacing at the director level for business priorities. Job Description / Duties:

• Work a python-based framework of analytical and multi-physics modules that may be in C++ or other languages running on a RHEL high performance computing cluster.
• Run a platform for integrated design of novel nuclear products, analysis and AI-optimization.
• Serve in a key R&D role acting as internal product owner.
• Interface with designers and facilitate platform use directly in solving challenges of design.
• Coordinate the development of new methods, features, API's, SQA and refactoring tasks.
• Translate the needs of novel design problems into code development sprints.
• Conduct software platform design, development and robustness, with engineering and physics methods provided primarily by development engineers.
• Develop complete vision for the platform functionality, performance and extensibility.
• Refine physics models with empirical data, enabling integrated machine learning, digital twins, and enterprise deployment.

Job Qualifications / Requirements:

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline is required.
• A minimum of four (4) years of related experience is required. An advanced degree may substitute for experience.
• Must possess experience with best practices in software DevOps, CI/CD, unit and integrated testing, SQA, Git/Git Lab version control, scripting, and/or UI/UX.
• Must have strong coding skills in Python and C++.
• Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.

Additional Desired Skillsets:

• Scrum facilitation skills and familiarity with agile development.
• Familiarity with modeling and simulation applications.
• Familiarity with mechanical or nuclear engineering disciplines is a plus, and are also considered with extensive software experience or minor.
• Other programming skills.
