Special Events Assistant
Job description
We are looking for a Special Event Assistant to join our team and take on everything Events! Reporting to the Special Events Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing many aspects in relation to making our events a success. The ideal candidate will assist in the planning and on-site assistance of all events including concerts, festivals, race, and other seasonal events.
This will be an active role. Not only in the sense that you will be active in the day to day operations of The Forge: Lemont Quarries, but also that you will be handling tasks as they occur in the park. This position is responsible for ensuring the highest level of service, maintaining a clean and safe environment while meeting all financial goals.
This is a part-time position.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Special Event Assistant will assist in the development, implementation, and continual evaluation of the Special Events Program. Responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to:
- Assist in the management all special event operations within budgeted guidelines and to the highest standards
- Preserve excellent levels of internal and external customer service
- Assist in the design of exceptional special events
- Identify customers needs and respond proactively to their concerns
- Assist in the coordination of weekly schedules for event vendors
- Ensure proper preparation and presentation of all Special Events
- Control costs of all goods and labor by assisting in effective profit and loss controls
- Assist in all safety, sanitation, food storage, and alcohol beverage control policies for Special Events
- Maintain consistency of service in preparation of park events and private events
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of 2-3 years experience as an Event Assistant, preferably in a park/music industry
- In-depth knowledge of special events operations and best practices
- Super-freakin-awesome communication skills. Seriously, you must possess the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Well-versed in modern computing platforms and proficient in using Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and restaurant management softwares
- Ability to manage personnel and meet financial targets
- Availability to work on nights and weekends
- Ability to prioritize, anticipate situations, and take quick action
PHYSICAL AND SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS
- Because our park is located in a natural, outdoor, wooded location, candidates must be comfortable and willing to work in all seasonal outdoor weather conditions as operational and management duties may require
- You must be comfortable and willing to climb as necessary
- You need to be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds
