SUMMARY
The Employee Development Specialist plays a critical role in developing an engaged workforce through employee development, engagement, and retention strategies, impacting the bottom line by reducing turnover and costly incidents (due to lack of training) and improvements in employee effectiveness. As a member of the People & Culture team, they will work closely with across the company to ensure new team employees are successful and engaged throughout the employee lifecycle. They will curate, develop, edit, and deliver trainings and empower others to do the same, utilizing a variety of teaching methods and will solicit feedback to determine whether employees are on the path to success. The role requires a strong working knowledge of adult education and evaluation theory and practices.
Job Duties
New Employee Onboarding
- Work closely with Recruiting in the onboarding of all new employees, ensuring all needs are met
- Interact with new employees and their supervisors through their first 90 days to ensure they are properly trained, equipped, and supported; regularly evaluating and reporting out on progress
Employee Development & Engagement
- Work with subject matter experts to develop, improve, and record internal trainings
- Train presenters on skills to improve their delivery and training methods and materials
- Support organizational evaluation initiatives
Learning Management System & Training Administration
- Serve as the primary administer of the LMS (Totara Learn), including setup and reporting
- Curate internal/external training opportunities – load into LMS as online courses
- Administer and track internal training programs delivered via Imperative University or live in-person
Other Duties
- Support other projects within the overall People & Culture team to create value.
- Lead by example by spending time on their own professional development and growth.
Preferred Skills, Education, & Knowledge:
- Strong working knowledge of adult education and evaluation theory and practice.
- Skill in computers and technology, including learning management system administration and basic graphic design.
- Four-year college degree in adult education, human resource development, or a related field.
- Skill in providing technical training in a variety of formats.
Other Information and Requirements
- Supervisor: Director of Infrastructure & Employee Development.
- Equipment used: Computers, mobile devices, and A/V equipment
- Other Requirements: Ability to work at a distance with limited direct supervision.
- Work Schedule: Approximately 40 hours per work week. The work schedule is flexible at the discretion of the supervisor.
- Travel: Overnight travel, at the company’s expense, may be required.
