Job Description Summary:

The Desktop Support Technician is supporting the Veterans Evaluation Services (VES) administered by Maximus, makes an impact everyday by building, operating, and maintaining servers operating in a variety of environments. Desktop Support Techs are first line of contact on the Help Desk.

This position will be hybrid. Expectations to be onsite in Houston, TX with opportunities to work remotely

Job Summary:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, maintain, and support desktops, laptops, printers, fax machines, scanners, and other PC peripherals and related hardware, as well as remote access devices.
  • Use remote desktop software to provide remote support and resolve issues for users whom may be at remote offices or home office users.
  • Use moderate to advance troubleshooting knowledge to diagnose, resolve, and follow up on issues relating to various user concerns.
  • Assist in troubleshooting advanced technical issues within the network, mainframe, and telecommunications environments, especially as they relate to problems at the workstation level.
  • Provide written updates for problem resolution for knowledge bases, troubleshooting manual(s), or supported on-line documentation products.
  • Assist the network and architecture teams with maintaining, upgrading, and configuring enterprise network and architecture solutions and software update distributions.
  • Serve as a technical liaison to project managers.
  • Assist in providing support to project managers to integrate and transition projects or new technology efforts to the production support environment.
  • Assist in maintaining software and workstation image management, including the use of image deployment software to perform imaging tasks for workstations.
  • Identify areas deserving attention in the technical support environment, and consult with management to build upon or repair situations.

Minimum Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of experience, or Associate degree with 2+ years experience.
  • May have additional training or education in area of specialization.
  • Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgement in resolving issues.
  • Understands implications or work and makes recommendations for solutions.
  • Communicates on complex or sensitive issues or draft such responses for supervisor or team lead.
