Position Description:
Provides oversight, leadership, and achievement of results for Warehouse and Logistics for Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) in Arizona and Maryland. Oversees and directs all aspects of daily operations for the Warehouse Operations and Transportation departments, leading the teams and driving the business. Provides leadership and general management skills for both short and long-term success through building and retaining motivated, high-performing teams and ensuring compliance with OSHA and DOT rules and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial – Sustains growth through financial stewardship & fiscal responsibility.
  • Executes operations plan to achieve required targeted growth in daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals for the Transportation and Warehouse Operations Departments.
  • Develops and leads strategic plan and goals for Transportation and Warehouse Operations Divisions to include short- and long-term goals that align with corporate strategy.
  • Ensures operational budgetary expenses are controlled.
  • Ensures payroll and operating costs are managed to budget.
Customer & Community – Collaborates with customers to understand and deliver customer’s needs & expectations.
  • Provides guidance in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving escalated complaints or disputes.
  • Coordinates with VP of Donation Services & Logistics to analyze, identify, and execute strategic goals and objectives.
  • Ability to negotiate and build strong relationships with Transportation Vendors and Retail Partners.
  • Coordinates with Transportation Directors, ROC VP, and other departmental Senior Managers, Directors, and VPs to analyze, identify and execute strategic goals and objectives regarding safety, training and driver retention.
Operational Excellence – Implements strategies to maximize resources and infrastructure.
  • Makes decisions on matters relating to the day-to-day operations of his/her areas of responsibility.
  • Ensures that Team Members comply with all policies and procedures relating to Security, Health, and Safety; influences any changes necessary to meet statutory requirements, ensuring minimum risk to Team Members and the business.
  • Keeps up-to-date on the latest federal and state safety regulations.
  • Establishes practices and procedures to achieve efficient operations within the Warehouse and Transportation.
Team Goodwill – Promotes a culture that embraces growth & development to meet the needs of our team.
  • Responsible for performance management (coaching, discipline, performance improvement plans, and annual reviews), staffing, compensation, and development of Team Members.
  • Ensures that leadership effectively manages performance of Team Members, discussing operational performance problems with Senior Leadership and HR Business Partner (HRBP) to identify causes and issues in order to work on resolving problems.
  • Models Goodwill Core Values – Trust, Collaboration, Engagement, Ownership, and Innovation.
  • Plays critical role in driving company culture change efforts and change management processes.
  • Coordinates efforts with various Goodwill divisions, as needed.
Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 10+ years management experience in the logistics industry.
  • Must have experience in development and growth of Team Members.
  • Must have broad knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and FMCSA regulations and requirements.
  • Familiarity with Phoenix Metro Area.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean MVR.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for position.
