Overview

Provides assistance to Zone HR and business unit functional areas on difficult or complex employee relations matters. Provides advice, problem resolution and facilitation in cases of the most complex and difficult employee relations and employee discipline matters. Acts as a liaison between departments/divisions, all levels of line and staff management, the compensation department, Zone HR, legal counsel, and outside service providers.

Responsibilities

  • Provides problem resolution and facilitation in the areas of employee relations, and employee discipline; advises both employees and management regarding complicated employee relations policies, procedures and documentation.
  • Responds, in the role of a facilitator/mediator to complex concerns of internal conflicts between employees, employee(s) and\or manager(s). Investigates and recommends ways to resolves conflicts as appropriate for each issue. Keeps Zone HR Directors informed as to the status and outcomes of investigations.
  • With Zone HR and Legal, conducts investigations of the most complicated and sensitive internal complaints of discrimination, ethics violations, unfair practices, fraud and theft. Prepares formal reports of findings and recommendations for the review of own manager, and HR Leadership.
  • Manages voluntary/involuntary severance programs. Conduct cost/benefit analysis to quantify the financial impact of a RIF process to the company.
  • Creates RIF timelines for manager/employee communications and maintains accurate records of eligible/ineligible/impacted employees.
  • Generates individualized and state law applicable severance documents and track agreements being sent, returned, executed and rejected.
  • Interprets various federal, state, and local laws to ensure compliance.
  • Provides functional direction or training to lower level ER and HR employees.
  • Responds to document requests from external vendors and requests for bid information regarding affirmative action compliance certification.
  • Monitors the severance pay distribution and act as liaison with Zone HR, payroll and benefits for questions and concerns regarding terms of the severance agreement.
  • Is the point of contact in the areas of compliance checks or on site audit requests initiated from the Office of Federal Contract Compliance (OFCCP).
  • Files EEO-1 and VETS-100 report annually and maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Compiles and verifies data in support of the preparation of assigned Affirmative Action Plans. Works closely with outside consultants to ensure all data is accurate and complete.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience required, plus 5 years of related experience.
  • Experience as an ER/HR Representative.
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of federal and state laws, including Executive Order 11246, EEO, FLSA, ADA, Harassment Free Environment, Drug-Free and Substance Abuse-Free Workplace, etc
  • Must be able to effectively communicate information on a variety of levels with a broad base of customers.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Possesses customer support skills with a proficiency for problem escalation.
  • Proficient in Word\Excel.
  • May require travel to other sites (valid driver's license and acceptable driving record necessary).
