Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Engineer
At Purple, a successful Sr. Mechanical Engineer will be able to contribute to and coordinate a teams’ efforts to tackle complex engineering problems in a dynamic manufacturing environment. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for all technical aspects of tooling and equipment-based projects in their assigned area and will actively collaborate with all key stakeholders; operations, process engineering, project management, controls and fabrication to complete engineering projects. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager. This job does not offer sponsorship.
Job Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create a team environment and communicate well with personnel from multiple departments and disciplines
- Lead and contribute to engineering projects, identifying problems, developing solutions, creating and assigning tasks, developing budgets and schedules
- Be the technical expert on all related equipment and data in the assigned area
- Provide technical and analytical support to the various internal teams and customers
- Promote an environment of engineering rigor, discipline, informed decision making and enthusiastic problem solving
- Create specifications for testing, mechanical analysis, cost/benefit analysis, drafting etc. as needed
- Assist Production in troubleshooting problems and producing work instructions as needed
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
- Knowledge of machine design and mechanical, hydraulic, thermal, pneumatic systems, etc.
- Ability to read and create engineering drawings and schematics such as equipment and part drawings and models, P&IDs, Single Line Diagrams, etc.
- A strong understanding of engineering and process data to drive decisions
- Solidworks modeling of complex mechanical systems is required
- Ability to work in a high-pressure dynamic environment
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a mechanical engineering function
- Extrusion and/or injection molding experience is highly desired
- Project management experience is a plus
Location:
The primary work location will be McDonough, GA although some travel may be required
