Contract: 200 Days
Salary Range: $70,000 to $73,000
Location: State Support Team Region 7’s service area includes the Ohio counties of Ashland, Knox, Morrow, Marion, Crawford, Wyandot, Seneca, Huron, Richland, and Medina Counties
Description: The Career-Technical Planning District Consultant will promote equitable access to career-technical education for students with disabilities, as well as assist school districts in the provision of special education and related services in the context of career-technical education. The Consultant will provide coaching, professional learning and technical assistance to career-technical planning districts in SST Region 7.
Minimum Requirements:
- A master’s degree in the area for which an employee has primary responsibility (i.e., education, special education, early childhood education, education administration or appropriate related field or evidence of equivalency);
- Three to five years of successful classroom teaching, school improvement planning, special education administration, career-technical administration or related experience; a license appropriate to the individual’s profession (special education administration, general education, intervention specialist, early learning (age 3 to grade 3), related services);

The Career-Technical Planning District Consultant will:
- Participate in Office for Exceptional Children, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act selective reviews when it pertains to career-technical education/job training services for students with disabilities.
- Serve as SST team member of support at District Leadership Teams, Building Leadership Teams and Teacher-Based Teams when related to career-technical education services for students with disabilities.
- Collect and review career-technical pathway data to identify professional learning and technical assistance needs to increase the capacity of career-technical education personnel to provide special education services and high-quality instruction to students with disabilities.
- Develop and facilitate professional learning and technical assistance on a “self-review” of the school/district’s capacity to provide special education services to students with disabilities in career-technical education.
- Provide information/resources to keep CTPDs in the region current on federal and state initiatives and requirements related to students with disabilities and career-technical education.
- Coordinate regional collaborative networks that address the needs of special education in career-technical education.
- Work collaboratively with other SST consultants, educational agencies, community stakeholders and families to ensure students with disabilities participating in career-technical education have access to appropriate and effective instructional practices and frameworks.
- Support CTPDs to develop high expectations for the achievement of all diverse learners, and ensure students with disabilities have access to effective instructional practices in their least restrictive environment.
- Attend and inform State Support Team Regional Transition Council Meetings, Statewide State Support Team Career-Technical Planning District Consultant Meetings and Office for Exceptional Children State Support Team Meetings as applicable.
- Attend local, state and regional conferences for professional development as approved and applicable.
Additional Job Information
- The position requires travel. A valid Ohio Driver License and safe and functional motorized vehicle are necessary.
- Documentation of a clear criminal record.
- Meets all mandated public health requirements (e.g., negative tuberculosis test).
- Able to use equipment such as a computer, telephone, projector, copy machine and other related office equipment.
Additional Working Conditions
- This is a salaried position; therefore, may be required to work extended hours.
- May require working under time constraints to meet deadlines.
- Expected to attend required meetings and trainings as determined by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) program offices as necessary to fulfill the requirements within the current Grant Agreement for Ohio’s State Support Teams.
