NATURE OF WORK:
Performs routine, varied, clerical work of average difficulty, assisting members in Police Communications in duties from routine office management and communications to daily organizational responsibilities. Tasks involve few variables in work methods and permit some initiative and independent judgment in performing recurring activities. Primary functions include routine records maintenance which involves sorting, coding and filing; answering telephones, taking/relaying messages and/or routing calls; performing clerical tasks involving typing of forms, memos, etc., and use of computer and word processor to enter or retrieve data. The incumbent is involved in many projects which require a high level of confidentiality. Work is performed according to standard routines, but specific instructions are given on new assignments; work is reviewed while in progress, and upon completion for accuracy and adherence with office practices through review of files and work observation.
Minimum Requirements
High school graduate with two (2) years of clerical experience
required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must type 25 CWPM. A criminal background check and polygraph examination required. Law-enforcement agency experience preferred. Ability to use Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Publisher, Power point, and Outlook, and Workday required. Only candidates with clean criminal histories who have been drug-free for a minimum of one year will be considered.
Typing Test Information:
- Tests are administered by invitation only.
- Only applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be invited via email. Invitations will be sent to the email address listed on the application.
- Applicants will have (3) three days from the date of the invitation to complete the test. Tests may be completed virtually or onsite.
- Applicants are allowed one opportunity to pass the typing test within a posting period or any given 30 days. Scores are valid for one year
