Job Summary:
The primary activities of counselors in the Office of Counseling and Personal Development (OCPD) are the delivery of psychological services, programming, and consultation with students/staff/faculty/parents/etc. Skills and experience with clinical issues common to this setting (eating disorders, trauma, substance use, anxiety disorders, depression, etc.) highly valued. Multicultural competence and experience working with diverse community of students is an important component of this position.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential:
  • (65%) Maintain an individual/couples/group clinical caseload of students on a daily basis in order to assist with developmental issues or more severe psychological concerns.
  • (15%) Provide outreach to other departments on campus with regard to psychological issues including training for residence life staff, academic presentations, debriefing after a crisis and specific topic programs targeting certain populations upon request. This may take the form of collaborating with various campus offices and student groups, programming and outreach on campus in raising awareness of important issues, and creative ways of engaging the Regis community.
  • (5%) Participate in weekly staff meetings. Participate in the training experience with interns. Opportunities for training include participation in our training seminar (presenting on clinical issues/skills of interest), team supervision, supervision/co-facilitation of group with a trainee, and individual supervision.
  • (10%)Provide crisis intervention (walk-in) when necessary. Consult with appropriate OCPD staff, after-hours emergency facility, with regard to decisions to send client home, to off-campus referral and/or to hospital.
  • (5%) Provide appropriate clinical documentation by maintaining appropriate case records in accordance with professional, ethical and OCPD departmental standards.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:
  • Doctoral or Master's degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, or similar mental health field from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Professional licensure as an LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Psychologist in the state of Colorado

Experience:
  • Minimum of three years of experience in related environment.
  • A minimum of one to three years of work experience as LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Licensed Psychologist, including experience providing counseling to adolescents or young adults.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate treatment programs and evidence-based understanding of interventions.
  • Experience with brief and short-term models of psychotherapy.
  • Previous clinical experience in assessing high-risk cases.
  • Experience in a college counseling center setting or another type of larger systems setting.
  • Specialized experience and demonstrated competence in providing clinic services related to AOD intervention and prevention, work with BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities in particular, at both individual and institutional levels.
  • Additional experience and interest in working with clinical issues common in a University Counseling Center setting as well as clients with major mental illness preferred.
  • Must have appropriate professional license (at the highest level of education) or the ability to be licensed within one year of hiring date.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Some local, regional, and/or national travel is required.

SCHEDULE:

This is a permanent .80 position. Incumbent will work 40 hours/week, 8:30am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday- during the fall/spring academic year with 10 weeks off in the summer.

Pay Rate:
