Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is a 100% employee owned research and development, rapid prototyping, and product manufacturing firm located in Randolph, VT. We are seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer at the Integrated Products Division of ARA. This position includes design of printed circuit boards, technical capabilities to support, fabricate, assemble, test, and troubleshoot state of the art electronics in the field of robotics and sensors. Applicants should be familiar with IP67 rated enclosures and connectors, electrical schematic creation, PCB design, cable fabrication, and other electro-mechanical assemblies. This job will require travel to install or troubleshoot field installations of robotics and sensors.
You will join a dynamic team working on our Robotic, Sensor, and Geotechnical product lines. You will be part of a team that designs, prototypes, integrates and troubleshoots next generation technology, bringing state of the art solutions to our warfighters and our commercial customers. - What you’ll do as a Staff Electrical Engineer
- Support electrical design of robotics components, sensor systems, and geotechnical products
- Rapid prototyping of potential solutions
- Design of PCBs, cable harnesses, and electronic control systems
- Troubleshooting electrical components
- Working with mechanical and software engineers
- Working with electrical technicians
- Lead electrical development teams
- Staff Electrical Engineer Requirements
- B.S. Electrical Engineering
- 5-7 Years experience
- Experience in an electrical design package (e.g. Orcad, Allegro, Eagle, etc.)
- Experience with laboratory tools (Oscilloscopes, multi-meters, etc.)
- Strong hands on and debugging skills.
- Solid understanding of analog and digital design techniques
- Ability to generate and read electrical schematics
- Microprocessor/microcontroller experience
- Strong communication skills
- Staff Electrical Engineer Preferences
- Able to multitask and support multiple projects
- Harnessing design techniques and implementation
