This will be a full-time position in the Department of Neurosurgery in the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. Under the supervision of a Principal Investigator (PI), you will assist and facilitate animal and human experiments. Training will be a continuous feature of this position. Specifically, the candidate will assist other senior lab members with the development of novel studies evaluating multiple treatments for brain tumors using immunotherapeutic approaches. Duties include rodent intracranial tumor cell implantation surgical techniques and rodent injections. The position will also entail being responsible for laboratory maintenance: this includes the disposal of chemical and biohazardous waste, autoclaving and cleaning of lab equipment and supplies, ordering and maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies, and ensuring the lab space abides by institutional safety standards. Other necessary responsibilities include processing of clinical biological samples, maintaining detailed sample and experiment records, cataloguing sample inventory, and retrieval, transport, and shipment of biological samples. Necessary skills and experience include knowledge of sterile technique, peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) isolation, serum and plasma isolation, and tissue culture. Must be able to follow standard operating procedures and work collaboratively with others. Prefer minimum of bachelor’s degree in life sciences and 1 year of laboratory experience. Candidate will assist in ordering laboratory equipment and supplies and maintaining stock solutions. This researcher will be working on innovative research and as such will learn new techniques as they apply to emerging projects.. Administrative work will be required, including maintenance of records, approval of protocols, laboratory maintenance, and scheduling of experiments. Candidate will follow all laboratory safety practices. Pay Range: $24.88 - $29.67 Hourly
