This job contributes to Applegreen’s success by assisting the Starbucks store manager in executing store operations during scheduled shifts. This job deploys associates and delegates tasks so that baristas can create and maintain the Starbucks Experience for customers.
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of associates; providing excellent service to all customers through prompt and courteous service, and maintaining knowledge of all recipe standards, operations, food safety and cleanliness standards, in compliance with all corporate and brand expectations. This position will interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing manner and encourage, through leadership and example, the highest level of sales and customer service performance by other associates. Other responsibilities include aiding in monitoring associate productivity; assigning responsibility for specified work and/or functional activities; giving work directions and monitoring scheduling to ensure that shifts are covered; performing other responsibilities as directed by the business or as assigned by management.
This is a non-exempt position and typically reports to the Store Manager / Assistant Store Manager depending on local requirements.

Essential Functions:
Supervises the day-to-day activities of multiple non-exempt associates within a Starbucks Licensed location in a fast paced, high volume operation.
Sets goals for the group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together
Demonstrates a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events and manages smooth transitions thereafter to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the store team.
Displays a customer comes first attitude by training and holding associates accountable for delivering world-class customer service.
Maintains working knowledge of all applicable brand standards, recipes, procedures and protocols, including food safety and customer service, to maximize brand, landlord and employee relations.
Supports on-the-job training for associates, and ensures all associates receive brand compliance training to perform their jobs proficiently
Uses judgment and discretion to resolve routine questions and problems and refers more complex issues to higher levels
Supports Manager, Multi-Unit Manager and/or Director in developing and implementing creative strategies to increase revenue
Monitors progress towards unit goals and assigns associates to meet those objectives
Consistently provides direct reports and/or indirect reports with support, coaching and encouragement necessary to achieve business goals
Utilizes associate’s strengths and provides ongoing feedback that reflects on progress against individual development goals and business goals
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:
Requires 1 or more years of experience as a supervisor in high volume Food and Beverage, QSR or retail operations or other related experience.
Demonstrates team management, delegation and issue resolution skills and the ability to multi-task
Demonstrates knowledge of Applegreen policies and product, service, quality, equipment, and operations standards
Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with individuals and the public

Qualifications:

Food and beverage, cash handling, and customer service experience preferred

Starbucks would soon expand to Chicago and Vancouver, Canada and then on to California, Washington, D.C. and New York. By 1996, we would cross the Pacific to open our first store in Japan, followed by Europe in 1998 and China in 1999. Over the next two decades, we would grow to welcome millions of customers each week and become a part of the fabric of tens of thousands of neighborhoods all around the world.
