JOB TITLE: STEAMbassador

JOB TYPE: Part Time (Non-Exempt)

JOB LOCATION: Varied

PAY RATE: $13.00/hr

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 2:30-6:00 pm (20-25 hrs/wk)

JOB SUMMARY
Under direct supervision, the STEAMbassador provides after school programming supervision and activities at school locations in El Paso, TX. for children four (4) years of age and older.

EDUCATION
High school graduate or equivalent required. Some college preferred.

EXPERIENCE
Applicant must have experience working with children in educational settings and/or at least one year of experience in a licensed operation or similar experience as specified in the Minimum Standards for School Age and before or
After School Programs. Seventy (70) clock hours of training in child or youth development, recreational leadership, or management leadership as specified in the Minimum Standards for School Age and before or After School Programs.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
The Applicant must be at least 18 years of age. Must have an interest in working with children. Must be able to motivate children while remaining sensitive to their needs and capabilities. Serves as a role-model for students. Collaborates effectively with parents and the organization to increase student performance.
Invests in the learners’ well-being, health, and safety, physically, socially, and emotionally. Maintains attendance, snack, and other records daily. Ability to be creative and resourceful is required. Must be able to maintain physical stamina for several hours. Must be able to cope with emergencies and report accordingly.
Must have effective verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Must be able to work under pressure with interruptions. Bilingual ability in English/Spanish is preferred. Must have access to vehicle and possess valid driver’s license and sufficient liability insurance. Must acquire CPR, First Aid, DFPS background check, FBI fingerprint and food handling certifications prior to start of employment. Must maintain these certifications throughout employment. If you have lived out of state in the past five years you are required to submit for criminal history and child abuse/neglect check for the different states you have resided in. Must provide physician statement of current negative TB test and freedom from communicable diseases.
