Abacus Technology is seeking a Storage and Virtualization Engineer to support virtual infrastructure for an enterprise environment within the Air National Guard at McConnell AFB. This is a full-time, short term position.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct evaluation and analysis of existing virtual infrastructure hardware and software to include compute/storage hardware, hypervisor, monitoring, and backup software.
- Provide support for management of VMware ESXi virtual infrastructures and data storage solutions at the ANG CEDC, SPPN 1, and MOBs as required for specific platforms and enterprise applications.
- Develop requirements for configuration changes at the direction of the Government.
- Analyze the functions and capabilities of the virtual infrastructures and provide as applicable, but not limited to, wing level virtual infrastructures, application configurations, schema management, permissions management, and data structure management.
- Assist in activities involving deployment of new virtual infrastructures and the provisioning of virtual machines as required to the ANG CEDC, SPPN 1, and MOBs.
- Assist ANG customers in the maintenance and use of deployed virtual infrastructures and data storage solutions.
- Assist in providing technical support related to storage and virtual infrastructure capacity and performance.
- Review and analyze installation, configurations, management, troubleshooting, and backup and restoral procedures using CommVault Backup application.
- Assist the 299th NOSC in maintaining TCNO/IAVA compliance across all components of the Enterprise compute, storage, network infrastructure.
- Provide technical analyses to ensure integration that will help maintain software, security, and firmware updates for the compute, storage, hypervisor, and management software for MOB-ISN.
- Provide support for management of VMware ESX virtual infrastructures and data storage solutions as required for specific platforms and enterprise applications.
- Assist in activities involving deployment of new virtual infrastructures and the provisioning of virtual machines as required to ANG Enterprise locations.
- Assist ANG Enterprise Network primary Wing customers in the maintenance and use of deployed virtual infrastructures and data storage solutions.
- Perform technical analysis of the storage and virtual infrastructure capacity and performance.
- Provide technical support in the requirements analysis, development, and implementation of technical solutions to support internal Cyberspace Systems operations and business processes.
5+ years experience in systems engineering to include virtual environments. Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Must be Security+ certified. Must be VMWare certified. Must understand Air Force and ANG network systems and processes. Comprehensive knowledge of VMware 6.x/7.x environments. Able to install, configure, manage, secure, and maintain Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016/2019. Able to install, configure, and troubleshoot ESXi and vCenter issues. Able to configure and troubleshoot standard and distributed vSwitches, SAN/vSAN storage on an ESXi host, and standard and distributed vSwitches. Able to configure hardware/software in accordance with DISA STIGs. Capable of working with SAN hardware from multiple vendors. Able to install, configure, troubleshoot CommVault media agents. Solid customer service and communication skills are critical as well as the ability and willingness to communicate effectively and appropriately in an empathetic and understanding manner. Must be a US Citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
