The Strategic Account Manager – Agriculture & Construction role will play a key role in creating measurable market value and authentic long-lasting customer relationships. This cornerstone account position will drive revenue and profit growth, broaden relationships at many levels and functions (internally and externally), and act as the customer advocate within Donaldson. This role is ideal for someone with prior experience in the agriculture or construction industry, has mechanical aptitude, and passionate about growing business within key accounts. This role is based in Bloomington, MN but does provide a hybrid work schedule.
Role Responsibilities:
Relationship Management and Growth:
  • Proactively develop, lead, and manage Donaldson’s regional business with assigned accounts.
  • Act as a customer advocate with a focus on improving the customer experience.
  • Effectively respond to and complete a variety of customer and internal inquiries independently.
  • Prepare and summarize account analyses including financials, profitability, and pricing reviews.
  • Be a market leader by applying Donaldson’s Strategic Account Selling framework, principles, and tools to:
  • Deeply understand the customer’s business model, value drivers, careabouts and needs
  • Build strong relationships with multiple functions and levels within the customer based on trust and respect
  • Identify and collaboratively prioritize opportunities (internal/external) to create higher-order customer value (beyond the filter) and accelerate profitable growth
Account Management and Profitable Growth:
  • Meet or exceed annual financial growth targets (revenue, margin) for account portfolio as well as ensure a robust project pipeline.
  • Manage the direct sales, RFQs, product development programs, etc. of assigned customers
  • Includes leading regularly scheduled project update meetings with customers to ensure commercial program alignment, requirements and timing. Organize and lead internal activities regarding meetings and reporting on program performance, major milestones and required actions.
  • Execute independently the customer strategy and negotiations for your accounts.
  • Work with internal global teams on opportunity development and manufacturing localization efforts
  • Develop and recommend market strategies and action plans to improve market share and ensure long-term profitability
  • Develop account forecasts and budgets and understand impact to DCI of changes
  • Utilize and leverage existing CRM tools to support management of account
TRAVEL: Up to 30%
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of technical experience in sales or engineering, preferably in B2B
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience managing a large or key customer, preferably in the construction and agriculture manufacturing sectors
  • Strong mix of hunting and farming mentality
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Dynamics or related CRM systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Adaptability and strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong analysis skills, ability to utilize Microsoft Office products
  • Previous Filtration-related industry experience
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
