We have an exciting and challenging role within our strategic capabilities team covering all MedTech franchises of Johnson & Johnson as the Strategic Account Manager for Ireland and Northern Ireland.


Purpose of the role

The health care systems both in the Republic of Ireland and in Northern Ireland are a series of complex & multilayered accounts with an increasing number of stakeholders & influencers. Hospitals, payers, patients & policy makers are looking increasingly for companies to offer true value-added solutions to achieve the Triple Aims rather than just products.


The Strategic Account Manager (SAM) will develop mutually beneficial relationships with Key Accounts and senior stakeholders both at HSE and NHS level for Johnson & Johnson Hospital Medical devices (HMD) to become the preferred long-term strategic partner and drive profitable sales and market share growth.


The SAM represents the entire range of J&J Medical products and services and is responsible for achieving sales quota and will develop, lead, and implement the strategic account plan in line with the Johnson & Johnson HMD Commercial Strategy.


What to Expect?

  • Your role will require you to build in-depth understanding of ‘targeted account’ customers in order to match appropriate J&J HMD offerings and develop mutually beneficial solutions.
  • You are required to build strong relationships with a broad range of key stakeholders within and outside of the theatre environment to secure long-term sales growth for J&J Medical devices. You will be required to take ownership of the non-clinical stakeholder mapping and engagement in ‘target accounts’ and understand the internal politics to drive the strategic direction. Moreover, you will be required to develop relationships with key Institutional stakeholders at HSE and NHS level to advance J&J HMD agenda.
  • You are required to drive J&J customer interaction to maximise our potential in a changing market environment and you must articulate and sell the J&J HMD value proposition tailored to strategic accounts to develop long term partnership agreements and you will be leading the customer account planning cycle ensuring that customers’ needs, and expectations are met.
  • You are required to set up and lead the Integrated Account Team, working closely with the sales organizations across J&J, with the Services & Solution department and with the Orthopedic partner PEI surgical by leading multimillion dollars tender / contract applications and ensuring their successful acceptance.
  • You must strategically co-ordinate internal resources to deliver appropriate Value-Added Solutions for allocated target accounts.
  • Collaboration with internal stakeholders is essential, to deliver solutions to customers including Health Economics and Reimbursement, Healthcare Compliance and Legal.
  • Continuous feedback of environmental knowledge, market intelligence and sales opportunities to sales and marketing colleagues is a key to success in the role.
  • You need to keep up to date with areas such as (but not exclusive to) market trends and in particular focus on changes in funding, service delivery, policy changes, and healthcare hubs which may affect the implementation of the J&J Commercial Strategy.
  • Additional involvement will be required outside of specific role, of undertaking of specific projects as agreed with the J&J HMD Ireland Leadership Team.
  • You will have full ownership of your accounts and meet assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives.

Qualifications


Who are we looking for?

  • Excellent understanding of the HSE & NHS NI, its structure, and priorities.
  • Proven leadership ability, excellent influencing skills and strong conflict management experience
  • Understanding of health economic principles.
  • Strong business acumen, commercial and people management experience
  • Extensive knowledge of the Irish medical devices industry and solid Medical Device experience, with high customer interaction
  • Negotiation, Influencing, Project Management, Presentation and First-class communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complexity & thrives in uncertain/ambiguous circumstances
  • Ability to connect and effectively collaborate across a diverse group of business stakeholders in a highly matrixed environment
  • Self- awareness, adaptability, creativity, and mental toughness
  • Integrity and Credo-based leadership (Please see "Our Credo" on J&J site)

Preferred:

  • Experience in Strategic Account Management and in Value Added Services
  • Master’s degree or minimum equal through experience
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data, highly numerate.
  • Strong passion and track record for innovation & will to make things happen & deliver
  • High degree of tenacity, resilience and learning agility
  • Demonstrates strategic development and execution skills
  • Demonstrates creative, practical problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge and Understanding of Legal and Health Care Compliance policies
