TITLE: Test Plot Worker

PAY: $16.75

WORK LENGTH: May to October, [forty to fifty hours per week]

JOB SUMMARY:

The Test Plot Worker employee will be involved in day-to-day strawberry breeding program activities . These responsibilities will include (but not limited to) packing fruit, collecting yield data, postharvest berry evaluations, and test plot management that includes irrigation, fertigation, and weed management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Candidate must be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently with minimal instruction.
• Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
• Have flexibility in working hours (Monday through Saturday), some days may start as early as 5:30 AM.
• Have reliable transportation to work location. Be able to work in an outdoor field environment where temperatures and conditions can be variable.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Be focused, detail oriented, and able to work independently.
• Be reliable, honest, passionate, and trustworthy.
• Must be able to lift 30 pounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in the development and management of experimental plots in both soil and substrate. This includes, but is not limited to, weeding, pruning out diseased plants, checking and fixing irrigation lines.
• Pick and packing harvested fruit.
• Ensure Driscoll’s confidential and proprietary information and materials.
• Adhere to food safety requirements while on the job sites.
• Other duties as assigned.*
