The Strength, Fitness, and Resiliency Manager leads the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) efforts to enhance wellness services, programs, and training for employees. This position is responsible for managing all compliance with the officer self-protection requirements of the consent decree. Develop and implement a self-protection strategy, communicate the strategy internally and externally, and create systems and processes for managing the delivery of the strategy.

Description:
Oversees the Volunteer Services section, including Peer Support Team, Law Enforcement Chaplains, and Trauma Response Team deployment scheduling and after-action reporting.
Responsible for internal wellness strategic initiatives including, program development, implementation and communication surrounding mental, physical, and spiritual activities and support.
Collaborates with all divisions within the JCSO, outside clinical services, and medical networks. Partner with Human Resources Total Well-Being program and create opportunities to personalize the program to increase employee participation in countywide health and wellness initiatives.
Constructs academy curriculum and facilitates instructor scheduling around area of expertise.
Develop and implement overall strategy for current self-defense applications within the scope of law enforcement procedures. Provide training and educational resources for civilian and law enforcement staff regarding self-protection, situational awareness, overall wellness, and personal safety. Coordinates and delivers staff training.
Direct communication strategies to promote and continuously educate employees on personal protection, total well-being, and fitness/strength programs in partnership with the JCSO Training Academy and all divisions.
Ensure that techniques, policies, and procedures comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Establishes and monitors processes and controls to ensure ongoing compliance. Achieve and maintain compliance with consent decree, policies, laws, officer safety best-practices.
Identify grant opportunities and work with the SO Business Office to complete applications. Responsible for operational reporting of the grant activity.
Attends seminars, conferences, workshops, classes, and lectures to enhance and maintain knowledge of trends and developments in the field.
Supervises staff in area of responsibility. Administers and makes recommendations for routine personnel matters affecting subordinates, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, assigning, scheduling, granting leave, appraisals, and taking corrective action. Conducts performance evaluations and communicates short- and long-term goals and objectives. Submits personnel records and reports as required by the county. Assists and advises subordinates as necessary, resolves problems as non-routine situations arise, and ensures adherence to established policies, procedures, and standards. Communicates changes in policy and procedures to direct reports and implements them as directed.
Other duties as assigned.

Personal Training certification (ACE, NSCA, NASM, ASFA) at hire
Self Defense certification, weapons and tactics certification, Arrest Control Tactics (ACT) and/or Pressure Point Control Tactics (PPCT) obtained after hire.

Education:
Bachelor's Degree
