Essential Functions:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
- Perform fundamental calculation and detailing tasks; assist in preparing plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates from preliminary to final design
- Structural design activities will be performed on transportation and utility projects
- Perform bridge inspections
- Coordinate with project staff, other disciplines, clients, and consultants to ensure accuracy and quality of work.
- Manage and maintain project documentation, including meeting project schedules, budgets, and scope
- Review, evaluate, verify accuracy and viability of designs, data, reports, and other documents before submitting them to the next review level while maintaining project deadlines
- Responsible for proper quality assurance and quality control on projects to ensure projects meet Company, industry, and client standards and expectations
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to use resources efficiently and effectively, take initiative and be highly motivated, work with a diverse group of engineers and technicians, adhere to a schedule, and demonstrate a good work ethic
- Must have a desire to grow professionally in a fast-growing company environment
Travel required:
- Must be able to travel to client/job sites as needed
- Valid driver license required
Education and Experience:
- B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- EIT required, PE (or passed exam) preferred
- 2-4 years of experience in a related role
- Experience with structural design and/or load rating of highway bridges in accordance with AASHTO codes
- Experience on IDOT, CDOT, and Illinois Toll Authority, and CTA projects and knowledge of their standards preferred
- CADD experience required, Bentley software experience preferred
- Knowledge of typical structural design and analysis software.
Work environment:
- General office environment requiring long periods of sitting at computer
- Due to the collaborative nature of this position and accessibility for in-house meetings, work may need to be performed in the office and during normal business hours
- Work outside periodically; can be exposed to all types of weather and in close proximity to traffic

Our main office is located near the intersection of Wacker and Randolph in the Chicago Loop. We are within blocks of various CTA stations, Union Station, and Ogilvie Transportation Center. Work authorization
- Must be legally eligible to work full-time in the United States. Currently DBS is not providing visa sponsorship.
