Job Summary:

This position requires recruitment and assistance in the admission of new degree-seeking students for special sessions academic programs. The position requires attendance and planning of recruitment events, identifying partnerships, guiding prospective students through the admissions eligibility process, serving as a liaison for students with admissions and registrar’s office, as well as developing marketing strategies.

Student Services:
  • Acquire prospective student information utilizing interviewing skills and active listening for student recruitment.
  • Provide information and guidance to prospective students on degree and professional programs.
  • Assist prospective and current students with suitable solutions and course of action for problems encountered for enrollment and/or completion of course/program.
  • Evaluate student needs and direct, guide, and/or advise of course/ program.
  • Coordinate, plan, and administer program events, oral presentations, information sessions, and projects for small and large groups for the purposes of recruitment.
  • Provide support and assistance to students facing a variety of personal as well as institutional problems, questions, and challenges.
  • Maintain accurate student information and status in CRM or database.
  • Attend recruitment fairs to promote all CEGE programs at community colleges, employer-provided benefits and college fairs, conferences, and community events.
  • Direct contact for community college transfer counselors, law enforcement training officers, and local community organizers.
  • Assist prospective students in the next steps in the admission process, missing documents/transcripts until applicants are fully admitted or denied.
  • Advocate for student needs and identify solutions in collaboration with campus partners.
  • Make recommendations in requesting campus services for degree-seeking special sessions students.
  • Assist students in preliminary assessment and review of transcripts to ensure program eligibility and admittance.
  • Assist students in identifying courses at the community colleges that will fulfill GE and admission requirements.
  • Assist students in locating course offerings at different community colleges.
  • Refer students to fully online programs at community colleges that will ensure they meet graduation requirements.
  • Assist students in seeking admission exceptions including GPA and course substitutions.
  • Assist students that are requesting a change of major.
  • Guide students through the application process.
  • Assist students in understanding their financial information such as cost of program, tuition, payment plans, and financial aid packages/disbursements.
  • Make decisions and provide recommendations regarding official transcript deadlines based on analysis of projected number of students/applicants for intake, number of current students graduating, and course capacity.
Project Management:
  • Identify and reach out to community organizations, non-profit agencies, community colleges, and government agencies to establish partnerships. Maintain these relationships.
  • Create student and program forms to facilitate in recruitment efforts.
  • Assist in training of ASC's and student assistants.
  • Coordinate projects for ASC's and student assistants for purposes of recruitment and for call campaigns.
  • Work with the marketing team on the design of marketing materials as well as email blasts.
  • Conduct presentations to campus stakeholders on the performance of programs about enrollment and retention services.
Reports:
  • Identify trends in the application denials and identify solutions in preparation for counseling and guidance during recruitment efforts.
  • Gather and analyze data for the purposes of student recruitment, enrollment, and retention.
  • Maintain and create accurate reports.
  • Prepare reports on recruitment and enrollment activity.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Orientation:
  • Maintain student handbook, recruitment presentation, and pre-admission forms and update as needed.
  • Schedule and conduct student orientation on campus, off-campus and via zoom sessions.
  • Communicate to prospective and admitted students next steps in preparation for the start of the program.

Minimum Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field.

Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Experience: Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of one year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level. Equivalent amounts of graduate level job‑related education may be substituted for the required experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Working knowledge of the methods and problems of the organization and program management; research and interviewing techniques; principles of individual and group behavior; the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge of the organization, procedures and activities of the specific programs to which the position is assigned; and the basic principles, practices and major trends in the Student Services field to which assigned.

Ability to rapidly acquire a working knowledge of the specific objectives of the campus Student Services program and its relationship to the total campus operation; interpret and apply program rules and regulations; gather and analyze data; reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations; present clear and concise information orally and in written reports; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations and other private and public agencies.

Compensation and Benefits:

Anticipated Hiring Range: minimum $4,066 - maximum $4,366 monthly.

Classification Salary Range: minimum $4,066 - maximum $5,752 monthly.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year.
