ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:

The Student Financial Services Billing and Accounts Specialist supports the Student Financial Services department with essential monitoring of financial records and transactions for all prospective, current, and former students; and ensures all financial obligations are properly processed. With knowledge of policies, procedures, and external rules and regulations, this position researches and resolves student account issues that cannot be completed at the initial stage of the process; ensuring remarkable customer service is provided to students, parents and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Processes invoices for all students, including posting of manual charges and credits, preparing bills, compiling eBill statements, calculating any applicable discounts or special rates, uploading and publishing, and handling high level billing questions from students, authorized representatives, faculty and staff.

2. Ensure accurate recording of deposits, certifying reconciliation of daily transactions involving cash, check, credit and debit cards, as well as third party payments.

3. Posts student financial aid and loan disbursements in Jenzabar.

4. Responsible for issuing student refund checks in compliance with Title IV Cash Management regulations.

5. Assist the Associate Director of Student Financial Services with monitoring collection of past-due accounts.

6. Ensures that activities comply with Federal and State regulations regarding delinquent and uncollectible accounts; interprets and recommends collection policies and procedures.

7. Assists with the coordination and execution of the 1098-T process.

8. Responsible for reconciling and maintaining assigned federal financial aid disbursement records received between Jenzabar and PowerFaids.

9. Responsible in conjunction with other billing and accounts specialists the for monitoring, processing and updating accounts of Dual and LevelUp enrolled students in the College Enrollment Partnerships.

10. Responsible in conjunction with other billing and accounts specialists the for monitoring, processing and updating Continuing Education student accounts (Police Academy; Training Institute; Center programs, etc.).

11. Consistently collaborates with College departments regarding student balances, class and activity removal, housing, alternative payment arrangements, and other policies and procedures as necessary.

12. Other duties as assigned.

11. Works during high impact periods, which include, but are not limited to: annual forum, graduation, orientations, move-in, 2 weeks prior to the start of the semester, and first two weeks of the semester.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • Associates Degree with relevant experience preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-4 Years of recent experience in accounting including accounts receivable and collections. Preferred experience in Jenzabar’s module of accounts receivable.
