Job description
Develops and applies deep domain expertise to evaluate requirements and configure solutions to meet a wide range of investment accounting and reporting needs in the onboarding process for new Clearwater clients. Strategizes with development teams to enhance our product offering, improve our client onboarding experience, shorten delivery timeframes, and develop repeatable, scalable processes. Effectively communicates and collaborates with a global team to resolve problems and client inquiries accurately and efficiently. Spreads knowledge by designing and implementing training materials and SOPs, as well as influencing thought leadership and whitepapers. Serves as a trusted client advocate and confident client advisor. Manages assigned projects and coordinates necessary resources.
Responsibilities:
  • Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve increasingly complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Expert in application and training of Clearwater Way methodologies to implement and onboard clients, including alignment and support of CW’s Client Engagement Model
  • Internal Communication: Trusted to deliver accurate, timely, and thorough responses (Level 1) to routine and non-standard inquiries in both written and verbal contexts. Audience is typically team lead level or below but may at times involve SLT. More frequently serves as a trainer. Sphere of influence mainly own department.
  • External Communication: Trusted to deliver accurate, timely, and thorough responses (Level 1) to routine and non-standard inquiries in both written and verbal contexts. Comfortable simplifying responses in some areas but not others. More frequently identifies and acts upon Level 2 servicing opportunities. Day-to-day communication is autonomous. Audience may at times include senior-level stakeholders. Infrequent involvement with the Sales process. May attend industry events as a participant but not as a presenter.
  • Advanced Technical Skills in MS Office Suite (e.g., VBA, PowerPoint animations, Word templates, developer tools).
  • Intermediate Technical Skills in Project management tools (Clarizen, Salesforce, JIRA), and Clearwater tools/skills associated with area of expertise (e.g., asset classes, accounting).
  • Continuous Service Improvement: Identifies opportunities for improvement and spearheads solutions within Global Delivery
  • Implementation Process: Understands the implementation process and typical workstreams well enough to field common questions and speak to specific examples encountered previously but does not fully grasp market or client-specific nuances.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Possesses advanced industry knowledge and able to advise peers in this area. Intermediate familiarity with Clearwater-specific assumptions and functionality. Called upon to advise clients and interpret inquiries more frequently.
  • Market: Understands and applies Clearwater's core value proposition (aggregate, reconcile, report) in general and specific contexts. Intermediate proficiency with at least one specific market/regulatory regime (e.g., IM, US insurance, Solvency II, Canadian insurance, etc.)
  • Clearwater Website: Has mastered with the "Big 3", statements, dashboards, report manager, formulas, CPD, advanced grouping and filtering, as well as CW's core offering of Accounting, Compliance, Risk, and Performance reports. Has at least one user story for each of these features and functionalities to articulate value.
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assets and clients.
  • Viewed as a leader to peers, team members, and department.
  • Regularly self-evaluates performance and makes improvements where needed.
  • Sought out by other members of the firm.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • 5+ years experience with investment accounting and reporting for corporations, insurance companies, and/or investment managers
  • Knowledge of investment accounting policies and procedures
  • Statutory/ NAIC Investment Accounting knowledge
  • Equities, Fixed Income and structured products knowledge
  • Proven history of proficient Excel use
  • Ability to concisely convey information through verbal and written communication
  • Dynamic problem solving skills, and an innate sense of curiosity
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Intense desire to learn and improve at a rapid pace every day
  • Currently resides in Boise or is willing to relocate

Desired Experience and Skills:
  • Securities or financial markets experience, especially involving derivatives, alternatives, structured products, and/or fixed income
  • Experience with General Ledger systems (e.g. Workday, Peoplesoft) and period-end close processes
  • Project management skills
