The Unified Government’s AmeriCorps VISTA Program is:

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop a multi-day agenda/schedule for orientation of all new/incoming UGPHD staff (meeting and greeting with program-level staff; reviewing vision, mission, values and priorities for the HD; becoming familiar with the table of orientation; setting up logistics for workstation and remote work; map/directory of services for the Health Department, etc.) for all new UGPHD staff. Develop a checklist for all new onboarding UGPHD staff to complete within their first 6 months of hire.

Professional Development: Throughout the service year, engage in ongoing tasks and professional development that further the goals of this VAD and the UG VISTA Program or the member's goals for Life After VISTA.

These are temporary, full-time, summer AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Passion and general skills are needed, experience is not required; training and resources will be provided. VISTA members receive professional development and experience. Multiple positions are available within the Unified Government’s AmeriCorps VISTA Program, and candidates may apply for more than one position.

Minimum qualifications:

• Be a U.S. citizen or a U.S. permanent resident
• Willing to submit to and pass a national service background check
• Some college preferred
• Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

AmeriCorps VISTA Member Compensation:

• A living allowance of $675 pre-tax is provided every two weeks via direct deposit.
• Upon completion of the summer term, AmeriCorps provides a $1,459.26 Education Award for college loans or future education expenses. Those without loans or plans for future education can receive a smaller cash stipend ranging from $276.64 to $345.80, in lieu of the Education Award.
