Summer Camp Expedition Counselors
Summer at Breakwater is accepting applications for summer expedition counselors to join our
dynamic summer camp team.
About the Position:
Summer at Breakwater is looking for Summer Camp Expedition Counselors to support Trip
Leaders on week long daytime and/or overnight Expeditions throughout the summer. Our high
quality, high energy summer programming attracts curious campers ages 9-14 looking for
opportunities to explore and deepen their knowledge and experience in outdoor adventure.
Expedition Counselors will be a part of the Expedition Team supporting Trip Leaders and
Campers in an engaging trip experience.
Schedule and Start Date:
We are seeking teachers who can join us for one trip or multiple trips.
Mandatory Training on Thursday/Friday, June 22nd & 23rd, 9 am - 3pm
Trips Include:
- Breakwater Bike-packing (week of June 26, overnights)
- Birding & Photography Adventures (week of July 3, no 7/4, day camp, 8 am - 4 pm)
- Portland Day Trippers (week of July 10 and July 17, day camp, 8 am - 4 pm)
- Wild River Wilderness Backpacking (week of July 17, overnights)
- Casco Bay Adventures (week of July 24, overnights)

Compensation:
Stipends range at $600-800/week, with additional pay for overnights.
Qualifications:
- History of professional work experience teaching elementary or middle school aged youth
- Experience in the outdoors, biking, hiking, trips preferred
- Demonstrated ability to engage in positive relationships with staff, supervisors, children, and
- Ability to be flexible and work collaboratively
- Teaching experience in a classroom, summer camp (highly preferred), after school program, or
other educational/ youth development setting
