Do you love kids, technology, and video games? Then this is the job for you! We are looking for a Summer Camp Instructors (we call them Code Senseis) to supervise young campers and make sure they learn and have fun. What do Camp Instructors do? The most important out of all Camp Counselor duties is to ensure campers are safe at all times. You’ll be leading summer day camps with topics like Modding Minecraft, Coding in Roblox, Robotics with LEGO, Stop Motion Animation, Become a YouTuber, Code Your Own Arcade, 3D Printing, and many more!

The job duties of a Camp Instructor include planning weekly half-day camps (training and curriculum provided), educating children and teenagers, and setting up equipment. Being reliable and able to build good relationships with children are two essential traits of a Camp Instructor. You need to have an aptitude for things like STEM, coding, science, gaming, and robotics. If you’re patient, energetic but strict when needed, we’d like to meet you.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Lead Sensei for summer camps (half-day, M-F) as assigned. Review curriculum and training materials for assigned camps and ensure that supplies are prepared and camps run smoothly
• Serve as Support Sensei on other camps as assigned. Work with Lead Sensei to ensure that camps run smoothly
• Lead recreational and educational activities for up to 20 children at a time
• Camps will run weekly from May 29-August 11, Monday-Friday. Camp instructors will have July 4 week off. Instructors will be expected to work each camp week (except in case of illness or emergency)
• Set up, charge, and maintain equipment (like robotics sets)
• Resolve any behavioral issues with children
• Make sure all safety rules are followed
• This is a seasonal position, but exemplary employees will be given priority for any available permanent positions in the fall.

Skills

• Experience working successfully with children
• Familiarity with one or more of the following topics: Minecraft, Roblox Studio, YouTube content creation, LEGO Education (or other robotics platform), 3D Printing, Microsoft MakeCode, video editing, or coding (block-based, JavaScript, Lua, HTML/CSS)
• Patient and reliable
• Organizational and communication skills
• A love for children
• Energetic and positive personality
• Computer science, engineering, and education majors are successful, but all majors as well as current high school students considered

Pay: $11.00 - $12.00 per hour
