Job description

The Shorewood School District is seeking highly qualified Teacher Aide's for summer school. The classes will be held in person at Atwater ELementary School. Classes will be held Monday through Thursday from 8AM to 12PM starting June 20th through July 20th. Classes are 1 hour long. No classes are held on Fridays and no classes will be held on the July 4th holiday.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides appropriate supervision for the safety of students on school grounds. Assists the immediate supervisor to help provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program. The job demands the ability to stand for extended periods of time, ability to move quickly and freely and to spend time outside in inclement weather. Properly handle confidential matters relating to students, student records, parents, staff and any other school-related issues.

QUALIFICATIONS:
-High school diploma
-Good communication skills
-Experience working with children in structured activities (paid or volunteer)
-Secretarial and clerical skills desirable but not required
-CPR/First Aid Certification
-Ability to assume responsibility, display initiative and exercise good judgment

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

-Supervise students on school grounds, including hallway, classroom.
-Supervise and provide appropriate discipline in accordance with school policy and procedures.
-Report discipline problems and concerns through procedures set by the Building Principal
-Provide assistance to injured children following prescribed measures.
-Maintain confidentiality regarding students, student records, parents, staff and any other school-related issues.
-Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce and implement teacher directed activities

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
-Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Building Principal
-Promote a positive image on behalf of the District

Job Type: Temporary

Pay: $15.00 - $17.50 per hour
