The summer research trainee in the NIH-funded Ma’ayan Laboratory of Computational Systems Biology and the Mount Sinai Center for Bioinformatics will work with a group of researchers on projects related to data analysis and integration as well as other research projects aimed at solving data-intensive biomedical problems.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• The research trainee will conduct faculty-mentored independent research projects in the following areas: data harmonization, machine learning, cloud computing and dynamic data visualization
• Trainee may design and implement bioinformatics tools and processes in order to analyze large-scale datasets
• The research trainee in the Ma'ayan Laboratory will provide support for data science research focused on developing methods that would further extract knowledge from LINCS data by integrating LINCS data with other relevant resources. Our data science projects will address methodological and computational challenges related to such integrative analyses

Requirements:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required; an undergraduate or master's student in good academic standing preferred.
• Students must be willing to work 40 hours per week and take part in all program activities (e.g., weekly meetings, enrichment lectures, and the project presentation session) in addition to their mentored research work.
• Experience: None, though some research exposure is a plus

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $10,000.08 - $78,219.09 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
