Summary:
The Scheduler-Surgery Coordinator is responsible for scheduling all inpatient and outpatient surgery, procedures, tests and studies ordered by the physician. The Position requires utilization of clinical knowledge to schedule appropriate procedures/surgeries per provider’s orders. Additionally responsible for scheduling of Anesthesia services for the facility. Provides support, and communicates necessary information to physicians’ offices and physicians regarding scheduling times or changes. Responsible for charge capture for operating rooms and/or procedural areas they serve. Works closely with the revenue cycle departments to resolve issues and provide solutions related to patient charges, auditing and revenue management. Identifies revenue management opportunities, conducts charge reconciliation to ensure optimal charge capture, reimbursement, and compliant revenue. Knowledge of C PT, HC PC S and IC D coding required for scheduling. Responsible for accurate collection and input of data as it relates to patient demographic, clinical and insurance information is collected to ensure proper reimbursement is achieved. Responsible for ensuring that all patients are scheduled promptly and accurately. Responsible to trains new employees.

Other information:
High School diploma or equivalent required. College level or Associates Degree preferred. Three years’ experience in health care industry, with at least one year experience with electronic medical record preferred. Knowledge of C PT, HC PC S and IC D coding conventions preferred. Highly organized, self-motivated, with demonstrated critical thinking skills and excellent communication skills. Provide feedback regarding documentation patterns and issues. Minimum typing speed of 50 words per minute
