We are a gastroenterology office with 3 physicians, 1 nurse practitioner and 1 physician assistant. We work out of the Silver Cross Hospital.

We are looking for a Surgery Scheduler to help with patient care at a gastroenterology practice. The position is full-time with in-office responsibilities. As the surgery scheduler, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the office. You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. It is preferred that the applicant have previous experience with gastroenterology, but others with medical assistant experience will be considered as well.

Responsibilities

• Support the provider as they interview the patient
• Organize and schedule appointments and procedures
• Assist the medical assistant as needed: rooming patients, preauthorization's, phone calls, etc.
• Update and file medical records and insurance reports
• Check with patients and type up patients charts
• Prior insurance authorizations (preferred but not required)
• Assist during medical examinations as needed
• Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments

Skills

• Proven working experience as a surgery scheduler or medical assistant
• Knowledge of common medical systems and procedures
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
• Social perceptiveness and service oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software
• Degree in medical assistance or medical scribe (Preferred but not required)
