Job description
Children will be assigned to you to teach swimming skills. These will be YOUR swimmers in your classes for each session. You are responsible for your classes. You are responsible for using the parent communication tool and communication between the front desk, supervisors and subs concerning your students. When you miss a class, you must make sure to find a sub and that your sub has a lesson plan to follow. If problems arise in your classes, immediately report to the supervisor/Team Leader who will contact the parents.
Duties: Instructors’ priority is safety. As an instructor, the vision and mission of Swim-in Zone is based on you. Instructors provide a fun-loving, safe environment for all students while teaching the curriculum and appropriate skills and levels for each child. Instructors are superstars to the children!
- Maintain safety and procedures (see safety training and materials)
- Must follow all basic safety rules yourself. Wear your whistle.
- Responsible for transitioning of classes
- Calling students and bringing them to the water; instructor or aide in the water first
- Maintain Swim-in Zone’s curriculum while teaching
- Understand and be able to communicate the curriculum at all levels
- Provide SIZ level customer service while answering and communicating with parents
- Parents are paying for lessons, so give them your best!
- Must be prepared for all lessons including make-ups, subbing, etc.
- Responsible for filling out level sheets as well as certificates at the end of session
- Clean up the pool area/clean up after yourself
- All equipment must be put away at the end of your instruction time. Islands must be removed from the water unless another instructor is using it. Islands are removed each night and for events, like family swim.
- Dress Code: suit (one piece), shorts, shirt, whistle. See personnel manual
- For your safety, no hoop type jewelry will be permitted
- Wear your whistles. Whistles are available in lifeguard office
Qualifications:
- Required Certifications
- Lifeguard certification; renew every 2 years
- CPR/AED and First Aide certifications; renew every 2 years
- Online module training (including the Basic 7), renew yearly
- Clearances for Child Abuse, Criminal Record and FBI fingerprint, renew every 5 years
- Experience working with children; preferably <11 years old
- Skills as a teacher, instructor, trainer, mentor, etc., always a plus
Member schools are independently owned and operated. Your application will go directly to the member school, and all hiring decisions will be made by the management of this school. Pay: $13.00 - $18.00 per hour
