POSITION: Full-Time EDP Systems Analyst III: Programmer/Analyst; EDP Systems Analyst III; Information Technology, Management Information Systems; Haverhill Campus, 37.5 hours per week; AFSCME Unit I Position
SUMMARY: The Programmer/Analyst is primarily responsible for support of and projects related to our Ellucian Banner information system (utilizing an Oracle database), reporting systems, and related applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop an understanding of current business processes and how the Banner system enables those processes;
- Analyze current business practices for process improvements;
- Develop and implement innovative solutions for improvement within existing framework;
- Work on all phases of the development process, including requirements gathering, work effort estimates, program development, testing and implementation;
- Development and maintenance of Oracle database tables, views, procedures, functions, packages, and triggers using PL/SQL;
- Create end users reporting solutions using SQL reporting tools;
- Analyze and troubleshoot existing reporting or programming code and correct/update errors as required;
- Create and maintain user, technical and operational documentation that describes program source/logic changes and corrections;
- Provide technical support, consultation and training to functional staff on the appropriate use of programs and systems including Banner Administration, Banner Self Service, and Electronic Forms Software (Dynamic Forms);
- Participate on committees where technical representation is required;
- Due to the nature of IT responsibilities, occasional work outside of normal business hours will be required;

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicants must have at least (A) 4 years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in electronic data processing, of which (B) at least two years must have been in work in which the major duties included computer systems analysis, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
- Substitutions:
- An Associate's degree with a major in the field of data processing or computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one (1) year of the required experience.*
- A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in the field of data processing or computer and/or information science may be substituted for the required experience.*
- A diploma for completion of a two (2) year full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized non-degree granting business or vocational/technical school above the high school level with a major in the field of computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.*
- An official transcript from a recognized business or vocational/ technical school as evidence of completion of a program consisting of at least 650 hours of instruction in the field of computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
- Graduation from the data processing course of a recognized vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
- Education toward such a degree or diploma will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
- Experience in ERP applications maintenance and support;
- Experience with analysis, development, and implementation of new software systems and business processes;
- Experience with databases, creating objects, such as tables, views, functions, and procedures to address customer needs where necessary;
- Experience writing advanced SQL scripts with reporting tools such as Oracle SQL Developer, PL/SQL Developer, Toad, Argos;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
- Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and presentation skills;
- Must be willing to learn and try new tools and approaches, take risks, and stay current in application software knowledge.
- Ability to set and change priorities amongst multiple competing constituencies, projects, and resources.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with Ellucian Banner Higher Education Software in at least one of the Banner modules (e.g. Student, Financial Aid, Accounts Receivable, Finance, or Human Resources);
- Knowledge in third party systems, i.e., Degree Works, Destiny One, EAB Navigate
- Experience with PL/SQL, Oracle DB, and Linux/Unix operating systems;
- Experience with Oracle Application Express (Oracle APEX);
- Project management experience.
BACKGROUND CHECK: Candidates will be required to pass a CORI and SORI check as a condition of employment.
Additional Information:
SALARY: $2,728.54 - $3,858.19 biweekly ($70,942.04 - $100,312.94 annually). Pay grade 23; An appointment from outside the bargaining unit (AFSCME) must start at Step I of the range.
