The
Department of Consumer and Business Services
(DCBS) is a progressive business regulatory state agency dedicated to the mission of protecting and serving Oregon's consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate. The department administers state laws and rules governing workers' compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies and building codes. The department has consumer protection and education programs, offices, and ombuds to help consumers, injured workers, and businesses.
This position is with the
Information Technology and Research
(IT&R) Section of the Central Services Division. IT&R provides a broad range of specialized technical services in the areas of information systems, data analysis/dissemination, and computer/telecommunication services for a large, diverse agency. The staff support the collection, processing, analysis, and dissemination of statewide and regional data about workers' compensation, accident prevention, insurance, financial institutions, corporate securities, building codes, and senior health insurance benefits. The section supports a number of critical systems to meet the regulatory requirements for each program and interact with other state and federal agencies.
This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

This position is eligible for
remote work
on a part-time basis once the incumbent has gained the proficiency to perform work independently. However, regular, scheduled office hours are also required.
Here’s what you will do:
As a System Support Specialist, your duties will include:
-
Support day-to-day use and resolve issues with data systems for assigned business areas
-
Maintain support logs and system documentation
-
Escalate and track system issues when necessary to insure issues are satisfactorily resolved
-
Gather, document, and clarify business requirements for the design, construction, and installation of new or small enhancements to existing data system components

Here’s what you need to qualify:
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Four (4) years of information systems experience in IT customer or system support; programming (software development); business analysis; and IT systems analysis and design
OR
-
An associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND two (2) years of information systems experience in IT customer or system support; programming (software development); business analysis; and IT systems analysis and design
OR
-
A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
Requested Experiences:
-
IT customer or system support at an expert level, demonstrating high proficiency with technical details of complex data systems
-
Programming (software development) within business applications to create and modify existing components of complex data systems utilizing .Net, Cold Fusion, and PL/SQL
-
Business analysis, including identification of business need, eliciting, and documenting information technology requirements
-
IT systems analysis and design, including architecting the physical implementation and integration of small and medium sized solutions. Expertise involves a thorough understanding of business process analysis, systems analysis, relational data design, systems design, and systems construction.
