Peterson Cat has a need for an experienced Systems Administrator at our San Leandro, CA location. The Systems Administrator will perform system administration tasks on the servers, storage, and peripherals managed by Peterson’s IT department. The person is responsible for administrative tasks such as network support, infrastructure support, user support and consulting, account maintenance, software version upgrades, application of patches, performance tuning, troubleshooting hardware and software, hardware maintenance, backup, recovery and security, and license/certificate maintenance.
Job functions include the following:
- Sets up, administers, troubleshoots, and upgrades servers, storage, backup, virtual machines (VMs) and disaster recovery (DR) systems
- Perform routine system upgrades and patching which may require work during off hours or weekends
- Perform routine workstation upgrades and patching using Intune, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and other tools.
- Provide administrative support for user applications and enterprise applications.
- Maintain, perform, and test file system and VM and DR backups
- Deploy and support third-party tools including Caterpillar and Navistar applications.
- Direct and coordinate third- party technical support.
- Monitor network and services and remediate problems.
- Set up and administer core infrastructure services including Active Directory (AD), Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and Network Policy Server (NPS)
- Set up and administer Azure Active Directory (AAD), Microsoft 365 (M365), Single Sign-On (SSO), SharePoint, Outlook third party access and connections.
- Set up, administer, and upgrade VMWare virtual infrastructure at multiple locations.
- Monitor and administer security, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and access to network resources.
- Monitor, administer and upgrade ESET Internet Security suite
- Assist helpdesk with more complex technical problems and document solutions on knowledge hub
- Plan, budget and manage third-party vendors on lT-related projects.
- Support and visit remote sites to install equipment and troubleshoot problems.
A candidate for the opening needs a Bachelor's Degree from a fully accredited college in Computer Science or other closely related field; and a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in enterprise environment, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) Core Infrastructure, Productivity, Data Management & Analytics, and Business Applications certifications preferred.

Pay: Up to $130,000.00 per year
