PPSD serves more than 21,000 students in Providence. As part of a comprehensive reform effort to Turnaround the District and improve outcomes for children, the work of Central Office staff will support and drive instructional excellence and significant achievement gains for PPSD students.
The PPSD recruitment team works to build a pipeline of candidates with desired experience, skills, and backgrounds that will yield a cohort of new educators that are highly effective. Through analytics and data measurement, we work to establish relationships with key pre-service programs and other external sources to build a pool of high quality candidates to join our team(s) of exceptional educators.
Our people are our most important resource. The ideal candidate(s) will have prior experience in recruitment, with knowledge of screening, interviewing, and hiring practices. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES
- Serve as the "face" of the district to prospective employees
- Build a robust pipeline and pool of high quality candidates
- Design, support, and attend programs and events to inform and attract prospective employees
- Plan, host, attend career events
- Create, coordinate and attend local, national school recruitment events
- Create specific programs in partnership with schools to create a pipeline of top talent
- Create, coordinate and attend local, national school recruitment events
- Manage, report and track ROI of events, sponsorships and initiatives
- Keep applicants "warm" through communications and other interactions
- Support with pre-screening to identify top candidates
- Case manage (track, manage, and "push" top candidates) including early contracts and other high yield partnerships and partner with staffing managers to secure placements
- Continuously and rigorously track applicant quality to inform recruitment efforts and support feedback loops.
- Attract suitable candidates through databases, online employment forums, social media, etc.
- Conduct interviews and sort through applicants to fill open positions.
- Assess applicants' knowledge, skills, and experience to best suit open positions.
- Promote the district's reputation and attractiveness as a good employment opportunity.
- Work to form relationships with staffing managers to know the ins and outs of their schools/networks and better understand their hiring needs and job specifications
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office, database management, and internet search
- Familiarity with job boards, and HR software, databases, and management systems
- Proven experience conducting various types of interviews (i.e., phone, video, etc.)
- Ability to travel as needed
