Puzzle Box Academy and Kaleidoscope Interventions is looking to hire a Teacher for our in-classroom learning. Founded in 2014, Puzzle Box Academy provides a school for students who benefit from explicit instruction in the foundation skills of reading, writing, and mathematics. We have a “students first” perspective. Puzzle Box Academy uses the Morningside Model of Generative Instruction (MMGI) which leads to mastery and fluency. Thinking, reasoning, and organizational repertoires are also developed in a systematic way. Puzzle Box Academy is one of only 2 academies that use the MMGI model for our special need’s community.

Successful Puzzle Box Academy and Kaleidoscope Interventions Teachers will be positive and fast-paced in their support and interactions. They have clear expectations and thoroughly follow through on instructions. Must have a sincere enjoyment of working with school-aged children in a group and one-on-one setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Incorporate into the classrooms, the most current of educational practices and materials received through.
• the in-service training sessions and knowledge.
• Delegate work to the academic aides and registered behavior technicians in a method that is meaningful and appropriate.
• Adhere to and support the administration, regarding rules and regulations, and building procedures.
• Update progress monitoring tracking sheet weekly/monthly and meet with the Director of Early Interventions to go over data.
• Meet with parents on a requested basis.
• Demonstrate a courteous, cooperative, and professional attitude, always towards students, staff, parents and colleagues.
• Ensure the classroom/learning environment is safe.
• Prepare daily lesson plans according to the Florida State Standards which are submitted the 15th and 30th of every month.
• Evaluate each student’s progress and report those evaluations through report cards and progress reports.
• Organize classrooms and post such displays to ensure that an attractive learning atmosphere exists.
• Provide a non-threatening learning environment. Maintain good housekeeping habits.
• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality about students, their parents and home environment.
• Must be aware of a child’s physical or emotional wellbeing and report any signs of child abuse or neglect to DCF, as well as administration for formal reporting.
• Perform job duties with little or no supervision.
• Attends meetings, events and seminars as required by Puzzle Box Academy or Kaleidoscope Interventions.
• Assists staff in attending to student related issues, and in contacting parents or guardians.
• Participates in and assists with planning, scheduling, and coordinating team meetings, fundraising, open house meetings and other related events and functions for Puzzle Box Academy and Kaleidoscope Interventions.
• Maintains proficient understanding and working knowledge of standards and best practices for the effective and efficient delivery of fast-paced Morningside Model of Generative Instruction throughout the academic day and across all subjects.
• Maintain 12 Continuing Education Units by the end of the school year.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Education or Special Education
• Valid Florida Department of Education Teacher Certificate, preferably in ESE or other related subject area
• At least one year's experience working with children with autism or other developmental disabilities
• Valid CPR Certification

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
