Del Rio Academy is a private, accredited, not for profit school in Los Lunas seeking a F/T Teacher’s Aide to join its dedicated team of active and creative colleagues. Del Rio Academy serves the students living at Sandhill Center, a residential treatment center for children ages 8-13 that is nationally renowned for its innovative and progressive practice model. The ideal candidate for Teacher’s Aide will have classroom experience. The selected professional will possess a natural love for working with children and leading them in academics and experiential activities (nature hikes, organic gardening, animal-assisted activities, art, drama, dance, etc). Bachelor's degree in related Education or Human Services field preferred. Pre-employment background check and drug screen required. Sandhill Center
Sandhill Center is an innovative, nationally-recognized residential program for children between the ages of five and thirteen who are experiencing significant difficulties in functioning at home, in school, or in the community. Most of our residents can't adequately regulate their emotional or mental states because of early attachment disruptions or barriers, and therefore present with serious emotional and behavioral challenges. Our goal as treatment providers for children with attachment issues is to create an environment in which care and nurture are hard to resist. Our treatment model encourages the development of close personal relationships, while confronting behaviors that interfere with that closeness. We look to recent brain research to help us create powerful, focused intervention strategies. We are located in Los Lunas, a rural community about 20 miles south of Albuquerque, NM.
