Dauphin County District Attorney's Office is currently accepting applications for the full-time, day shift position of Teamsters Legal Stenographer. An employee in this position provides legal secretarial support to multiple deputy district attorneys. This employee formats, types, edits and files briefs, petitions, motions, answers, memoranda, and jury instructions with the Court of Common Pleas. This employee also oversees and monitors briefing schedules and formats, edits and files briefs in the Superior and Supreme Court and federal courts. They also type and mail correspondence and work closely with police officers to obtain writs of release for prisoner transports. Other duties of this position include creation and coordination of summary appeals cases, routine office filing, answering telephone calls and other clerical duties as needed. This is a union position.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements

Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program with coursework in secretarial science, clerical skills, business administration, business English and/or related fields and 1-2 years of experience in a legal/government office is required; an Associate's degree or certification in Legal Secretarial or Legal Assistant studies is preferred. Or any equivalent combination of education, training and work experience. Proficiency in Windows/Microsoft Office including Word and Excel and a favorable criminal background check are required.
