Our client is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Technical Designer to join their retail product development team!

In this role you will be responsible for working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that products are designed and developed to meet technical specifications, quality standards, and timelines. You will be expected to develop and review technical specifications, create and interpret technical drawings, and communicate with vendors and factories to ensure that product development and production processes run smoothly.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and highly skilled technical designer with a passion for product development in the retail industry.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the product development, design, and sourcing teams to develop technical design specifications and product requirements.
• Create technical drawings and specifications for design, pattern making, and sample development.
• Review product samples to ensure that they meet the technical requirements, quality standards, and fit specifications.
• Communicate with vendors, factories, and suppliers to ensure that technical specifications and quality standards are being met during product development and production.
• Identify and resolve technical issues during the development process and make recommendations for product improvements.
• Work with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot any technical issues that arise during the product development process.
• Participate in fit sessions and make recommendations for adjustments to improve product fit and quality.
• Stay up-to-date with new technologies, materials, and manufacturing techniques to ensure that products are designed and developed using the most innovative and cost-effective methods.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience as a technical designer in product development for the retail industry.
• Expertise in creating technical drawings and specifications using software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams.
• Attention to detail and ability to identify and solve technical issues.
• Knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, and fit standards.
• Familiarity with industry regulations and standards, such as ASTM, CPSIA, and REACH.
• Time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
